  • Wear The Hijab – Break The Stereotypes

Wear The Hijab – Break The Stereotypes

I am a born Muslim and the family that I am bred in is pretty inclined towards religion. So the idea of significance of Islam and the proper following was innate. The more I matured up, the more I started reading, thinking and well, worrying about the socio-political affairs of the world especially in relation to Islam and Muslims. What I have realized through my humble understanding is that it is becoming more and more important for us to take up the RESPONSIBILITY of being Muslims.

Hijab is a choice yes I agree and no one can force another into donning it. Having said that, I firmly believe that to change a stereotypical perception, one has to take solid courageous steps. The world usually sees Hijab as a sign of oppression, viewing it as more of a sexist notion. In order to break this (oh-so-annoying) stereotype, I feel, Muslim women MUST prove their mettle in every field of life. From Journalism to Medicine to Fashion Designing, just everything! And prove to the world that Hijab does not limit or deprive them from succeeding in the society.

We live in a world where objectifying women is termed as “freedom” and I staunchly believe that if any woman is truly capable of shattering this insulting idea, it has to be a Hijabi! For Hijab gives the people a chance to look for something more than just skin deep in a woman. It compels a person to concentrate upon the intellect and beauty of the brains a woman holds.

I wish to request all of you who are taking out time to read this piece that PLEASE use your capabilities for the betterment of the despicable condition of Ummah. Everyone is born with an ‘IT’ factor PLEASE use it to demolish the horrible lies that are associated with our beautiful religion and costing us innocent lives every single minute. People distort a belief when they know that the beholders of that faith are not brave or steadfast enough to fight back, this is the case with us right now. If we take it upon ourselves that we will not stay quiet about the wrongs and we will show the world what we truly are made of through our highest potential then I promise you, we won’t have to apologize for crimes we did not commit and bad people we do not own.

For starters, Lets get ready for the World Hijab Day!! And from then on, lets live everyday with a fulfilling promise to use our potentials for Islam.

  • Harassment Of Blind Busker At Woodlands MRT Resolved By SMRT

Harassment Of Blind Busker At Woodlands MRT Resolved By SMRT

Dear Netizens and all FB friends,

Mr Suhaime Roa and Wife, Siti Aisah Sawie have met with SMRT official, Andrew last Friday. We were happy with the outcome of the meetings where the SMRT official offered their apologies for the incidents.

According to them, they were not aware of the situation till it was highlighted through the social media. They took the matters seriously and the said Station manager has been given warning, reprimanded, would be send for training and would not be at Woodlands MRT for the longest of time.

As SMRT already took responsibility for the unbecoming behavior of one of their staff high handed approach in dealing with Mr Suhaime, Mr Suhaime have decided to close this matter and move forward.

On behalf of Mr Suhaime family, from the bottom of my heart I can only thank each and everyone of you for being there for them. At 3R Sincerely & Giving, ONE STARFISH AT A TIME, everyone matters! Please continue to support our cause to give a bright spot to those who need us.

Having said all this, I am just disappointed that a simple issue if taken seriously by the authority like the MP’s and Police where an appeal and complain has been lodged, this case would not need be blown out of proportions. Their heck care attitude to the disable left much to be desired!
I will personally write to the said MP to highlight this matter to him.

I too was toying with the idea of any possibilities of gathering our buskers for a concert or maybe a get together for them to entertain us at Hong Lim park perhaps? Any promoters can take up this challenge? Just a thought!

Please comment responsibly. No racists or vulgarities yah! LOVE ONE LOVE ALL!

    Previously…

    Dear Editors,

Suhaime Roa is a prolific song writer and singers back in the 80’s. He is visually handicap and is a father of 4 children. For the past few years he has been busking at CWP and Civic centre. Woodlands. He hasNAC license for it.

Sometimes back he has been harassed by Edmund Chong Kong Lum from Woodlands MRT. This idiotic of a guy try to exert his authority by ordering Suhaime to move away from the usual place he used to play.Suhaime would comply. If not he would call the police.

This harrassment got so bad that a police report has been lodged against him but it still continued. I will copy and paste the convoy I had with his wife.

By the way when he played its not even on SMRT Ground. following are her PM’s “We’ve been tolerating this far too much. We did go to MPs to seek advice n help.

As a responsible man, Suhaime just want to earn a living by trading his talent for the family. Insyaallah.” TODAY AFTER I LEFT THE STATION, HIS WIFE PM AGAIN ”

He came again. Demand to see Suhaime’s busking license. He want to make report to NAC tomorrow. We refused to give. Told him that he got no right to see as we are not in his ground. He said he will call the police. We told him to go ahead…” “He call Transcom Policeman. They also agree that it’s not MRTground.” “Just now, he’s not happy when Transcom Police refuse to give Suhaime’s particulars because the policemen said that Suhaime is not MRT ground. He call NPC. NPC came n told him the same thing.

Our friend still not happy:, when the Transcom Policemen refused to give Suhaime’s particulars to him, he took down the Policemen’s particulars? What was he up to? Is he trying to manipulate with the Police too? “Even the CWP staff talk to him. He wants to show his power” UNQUOTE

In one of the pictures you would see he very the kurang ajar put a barrier in front of Suhaime while the other picture is he standing threateningly. This has been going on for 2-3 years by the same person. SitiAisah Sawie please feel free to share more.

  • Chan Chun Sing to Join NTUC

Chan Chun Sing to Join NTUC

Singapore’s Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing on Friday joined the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), in a move widely seen as his imminent takeover as labour chief later this year, when Lim Swee Say steps down.

He will be co-opted into its central committee on 27 January, and will be appointed the role of Deputy Secretary-General, according to local media.

The news of Chan joining the NTUC was posted on its website alongside correspondence between the 17-member committee and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. The committee had written to PM Lee in a letter dated Friday to request his release of Chan, one of the youngest ministers of Singapore’s current cabinet. The letter explained that current labour chief Lim Swee Say will not be able to serve another four-year term in office as he will turn 62 in July next year.

    Letter From NTUC to PM

“We would therefore like to put in place the succession for the NTUC Secretary-General, preferably a few months ahead of the National Delegates’ Conference (in October), to pave the way for election by Delegates at the said Conference,” the committee wrote. “After careful deliberation, the Committee unanimously agrees that Minister Chan Chun Sing is a suitable Cabinet Minister who can strengthen labour leadership at the NTUC and the link between the labour movement and the Government.”

    Letter from PM To NTUC

In a reply dated Friday as well, PM Lee said he would allow Chan to join the NTUC immediately on a part-time basis and full-time from 1 April onwards.

“For now Chun Sing will continue in MSF (and MINDEF, where he is Second Minister). But he will leave gaps when he goes over to NTUC full-time in April. I will announce Cabinet changes to fill the vacancies after the Budget session,” he added in a Facebook post on Friday evening.

In his first comments following the announcement, Chan wrote on his Facebook page that he was “humbled” for the opportunity to serve the labour movement.

“There is much to learn. I look forward to working closely with the tripartite partners to advance our cause to care for all workers,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to his ministry staff, whom he worked with for the past four years as acting and then full minister.

“I’ve no doubt that they will continue to strive unwaveringly to improve the lives of all Singaporeans, especially the less privileged ones,” he added.

  • #IamRaviPhilemon – Charlie Hebdo Cartoon Not Attack On Islam

#IamRaviPhilemon – Charlie Hebdo Cartoon Not Attack On Islam

Dunno if our community knows this. I read on another alternative media actually. As a Muslim I am offended.

After the Charlie Hebdo incident, this Ravi Philemon tweeted #IamCharlieHebdo and express “solidarity with victims of terror attack in France”. This he share himself on his Fb and blog – some people later advise him not to share in bigotry and racism of Charlie Hebdo.

Ravi Philemon - TweetBut he stubborn.  He say from what he understand, Charlie Hebdo’s cartoon was “not against Islam but against ultra-fundamentalism and extremism” (this is his own word you can see his blog on 9 January).

    Ravi Philemon IamCharlie

Everybody who follow the Charlie Hebdo saga know they attack Islam…bukan only I say but many other ppl also say! Even the Pope pun lebih open-minded.

If Ravi bother to know Islam he will find out that Islam do not allow picture or drawing of Nabi Muhammad (saw).  We Muslims pun dont do it kan! If against extremism then do caricature on Osama or IS or whoever extremist.  Why must use Nabi Muhammad (saw)???

Even more funny, Ravi said even his Muslim friend tell him that “we need to stand on the right to offend because if not we go down slope of censorship”.  Apa ni? Muslim friend? Who is this Muslim friend? Apa advise dia give Ravi ni? Tak ke ni Charlie Hebdo cartoon is attack on Islam? So just because dier tak nak censor then he is ok with people making fun of Islam?

I shock lar bila tahu dier actually politician from NSP.  Is this the calibre of politician we have?  Or just NSP? Yang NSP Malay members macam mana pulak?

Then last I tengok dier ada make police report on one blogger who also write about this.  The blog is kat sggeneralelections2016.blogspot.com you tengok 11 January punya entry. Dia boleh offend orang tapi orang cannot offend him? Dia confuse ke?

What about Muslims like me yang offended? What about me and my friends who are offended with dier punya pandai-pandai on Islam? Who is he to say that Charlie Hebdo cartoons not attack on Islam? What right he have?

Entah lah why have this kind of people…I dunno why dier mesti action pandai macam dier understand Islam sangat and dier understand intention Charlie Hebdo.  To me dua-dua pun salah.  Condemn lah yang attackers memang patut…they deserve it. Tapi must be fair lar and condemn Charlie Hebdo juga kan?  I betul concern ada politician macam gini.

Tolong publish so that our Muslim friends will be aware.

  • Irfan Fandi Featured On Cover Of Latest Issue Of Manja Magazine

Irfan Fandi Featured On Cover Of Latest Issue Of Manja Magazine

Footballer Irfan Fandi, the 17-year-old son of football legend Fandi Ahmad and model Wendy Jacobs, got a taste of his mother’s profession when he posed for the cover of entertainment and lifestyle magazine Manja. Its 15th anniversary issue will be out on Friday (Jan 23) with two variant covers.

“This is Irfan’s first ever magazine cover shoot. He is the youngest person ever featured on our cover. We chose him because he embodies our vision for Manja. He is young, very talented and faces up to new challenges. He is set to become an icon ten years down the road.

“Our vision for Manja is similar – to face up to new challenges and remain an iconic magazine in the next decade,” said Manja editor Ruslina Affandi.

She added that the first-time cover boy is “very good-looking”. “Irfan is hot both on and off the field!”

Manja senior writer Aizam Omar revealed that Irfan had been looking forward to being featured in Manja. However, it took some time for her to make the footballer, who recently made it to a list of top 40 best young talents in world football, open up to her.

“He isn’t quite like your average 17-year-old. He is very reserved and shy, different from the image he has on social media. It took a while for him to warm up,” said Aizam. But once he did, they spoke about everything from what food he can’t live without to the qualities he is looking for in a girlfriend, as well as his desire to play for a European football club.

Manja’s associate art director Muhamad Azlin, who oversaw the photo shoot, shared Aizam’s sentiments.

“Initially, Irfan was totally uncomfortable. He was very stiff. We couldn’t get him to smile naturally. I was like ‘Oh man, how is this going to turn out’. But after about half an hour, he warmed to us and became more relaxed,” he said. “The result was good. He has the potential to be a great model. He has the height and he is very good-looking.”

The February issue of Manja goes on sale on Friday (Jan 23).
