15,000 Jurutera Diperlukan Untuk Industri Kereta Api Jelang 2030

SMRT Hero Mr Mohamad Nazaruddin Helped Couple Who Delivered A Baby In His Taxi

It was just an ordinary day for Mr Mohamad Nazaruddin, serving passengers just like he did the last two years. Little did he know that it would be life changing as he picked up his first passenger of the day.

These are the words of appreciation from Mdm Ma.elena del Rosario Ortiz: “This is such an unforgettable and remarkable experience. I feel shocked and also overjoyed that my baby girl was born in a taxi. My husband and I would like to thank Mr Mohammad for doing a good job to take care of our baby and reassure us that the baby is fine. It was very well done.”

Mdm Ma.elena’s newborn arrived in Mr Mohamad’s taxi yesterday afternoon while she and her husband were enroute to the hospital for a checkup. Upon noticing that Mdm Ma.elena was in pain, he took the initiative to drive the couple to the nearest hospital. Even before they arrived, the baby was delivered in the taxi! Mr Mohamad remained calm and advised Mr Hamid, Mdm Ma.elena’s husband, on what he had to do to ensure the baby was fine.

The 39 year old taxi partner shared, “I’m lost for words. I’m glad that I’m able to help them in terms of giving them advice on what to do with the baby and ensuring that the baby is safe. I feel great about being part of this amazing journey with the parents. I hope that the family will be happy and joyous and wish them all the best.”

Upon arrival at the hospital, Mr Mohamad immediately got help from the nurses, and waived the taxi fare for Mr and Mrs Hamid. We cannot be happier to be part of this meaningful journey, and extend our congratulations to Mr and Mrs Hamid on their newborn! On this joyous occasion, SMRT will waive Mr Mohamad’s taxi rental for a day 🙂 Kudos to Mr Mohamad, our SMRT taxi partner. #SMRTHeroes

  • Knocked Unconscious On MRT Platform, Man Pressing Charges To Bring Hit-And-Run Attacker To Justice

Knocked Unconscious On MRT Platform, Man Pressing Charges To Bring Hit-And-Run Attacker To Justice

On boxing day evening, as i was heading home, just about to board the train, i was knocked out unconscious by one of two teens who were running / racing on the platform.

According to the MRT staff, i collided with the boy, and we both fell. The boy got up and he and his friend ran to board a train, leaving me lying unconscious on the ground. I think i was unconscious before i hit the ground. MRT staff said i was K.O.ed for 30s.

MRT staff carried me off to a room. I have no recollection of the collision. My face is bruised swollen and i have a bump on my head. I suffered from some memory loss. Somehow i managed to give my gf’s contact to the staff, although i have no recollection of that either. My gf arrived and accompanied me to the hospital.

I will be pressing charges because

    1. I want to find out who my hit and run assailants are.

    2. I do not want anyone to think they can irresponsibly run away after causing hurt regardless of intention. If a fragile elderly got hit it could have been fatal.

    3. I have important appointments this week and their actions really brought me great inconvenience.

Incident happened at Hill View station. Between 8.30pm to 8.45pm. Anyone with information is welcomed to contact me. I do have an SMRT staff eye witness and CCTV recording.

Update: I am discharged with ‘minor head injury’ status, a bump on the right side of my head, swollen lower left cheek, and the left side of my neck has strain supposedly from the whiplash of my fall.

  • WP Member Bernard Chen: Free Travel For Singaporeans Until Fundamental Issues With Public Transportation Are Fixed

WP Member Bernard Chen: Free Travel For Singaporeans Until Fundamental Issues With Public Transportation Are Fixed

Until our transport companies and the Ministry get their act together, Singaporeans should be granted free travel on our entire transport network. #justsaying #notsocrazyanidea. #onlyfair. Why should consumers made to pay for a system that is so unreliable and inefficient? I pay a fare to get from point A to point B, not to be stuck on the platform, or in between stations. If the service is not rendered, only fair that consumers need not pay. And why must I pay for your provision of “free bus services” whenever the trains don’t run. #mightaswelldontbuildraillines.

When their pockets are severely hit, then probably we can finally see some tangible improvements to our public transport system. It is not about paying more for the system for it to be better. It is about sorting out the fundamental problems before you ask consumers to pay. Provide a service first, and consumers will pay. #logicofgovernanceinSingapore#everythingalso讲钱.

  • Modify Bukit Panjang LRT To Meet New Needs

Modify Bukit Panjang LRT To Meet New Needs

I am shocked to hear that one of the options SMRT said is being considered in the review of the Bukit Panjang LRT system is to scrap the entire network and replace it with buses (“Review to overhaul Bt Panjang LRT under way”; Oct 7).

It sounds ridiculous to me that, as a well-developed country, Singapore could have spent a lot of time and money designing and constructing a light rail network in a town that could be used for only 20 years, and then realise that the use of buses could be more practical, flexible and effective.

If the entire Bukit Panjang LRT system is scrapped, the infrastructure, such as viaduct, bridges and stations, will become a big waste.

Many other cities have been using an LRT system for many years. Their systems are still operating and are being upgraded and modified continually to fulfil new needs and requirements.

I hope the authorities will consider the future of this system carefully in order to achieve the biggest benefit for the public.
