(Appeal For Witness) Old Man Injured From Fall At Bishan MRT Station

My father got injured very badly in an accident on a train, we need witnesses to help assist in investigations. Contact information at the end of the post. This is a pretty long post, that is also an appeal for witnesses, which I very much hope will be shared as much as possible to help assist in investigations. A police report has been made and SMRT Bishan CCL staff are also aware of this case.

On the 5th of September, my father was travelling on the Marina Bay/Dhoby Ghaut bound train on the CCL. At around 4.20pm, he tried to alight at Bishan, from the last cabin. In his attempt to alight, other passengers were boarding and he was pushed back into the train where he subsequently fell, breaking his right femur (in 3 sections) which also dislodged from his pelvis. There was no apology for the person who pushed him and no one around him offered any form of assistance. (I understand it is best in such a situation physical assistance should be limited, but there is nothing wrong with asking after him or trying to defuse the situation) It saddens me to say this but my father remembered clearly as well that it was crowded, but somehow after he fell there was suddenly a large ring that formed around and away from him.

I understand the accidents do happen, but the act of barging is a conscious one and definitely not accidental, with zero compassion or awareness and blatant disregard for social consequences. I have nothing but gratitude to offer to the SMRT Bishan CCL staff who responded quickly to assist and accompany him while the ambulance was arriving to convey him to TTSH, and if there was someone who alerted the staff, thank you as well. As well as the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) staff and team who have and are helping to put my father on the best road to recovery which will be long and painful. And the AS at Ang Mo Kio South Neighbourhood Police Centre who was extremely helpful and informative when I lodged the report this morning.

I sincerely hope that if you read this, please do myself and my family a favour, to just share this post in hopes of reaching anyone that was there, or knew anyone that was there to have witnessed this to at least offer some assistance in form of a witness account or statement. This is a man who has never fallen down for as long as I can remember, obviously outside of forces that cause him to, who has suffered so much throughout his 40 odd years since he came to Singapore, through multiple injuries sustained not on his own accord or fault. He does not deserve this now, especially not at 72 years old. Neither does anyone else, to be put in such a situation where public transport has become a blood sport. We appreciate any help that anyone can provide whatever the chances may be through Facebook. Below are the relevant contact numbers in the event that someone has information. My personal contact 9365 3275.

  • Pesakit Di TTSH Diberi Pilihan Beli Cawan, Sudu Garpu Sendiri

Pesakit Di TTSH Diberi Pilihan Beli Cawan, Sudu Garpu Sendiri

  • Filipino Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Sentenced To 4 Months Imprisonment For Seditious Remarks

Filipino Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Sentenced To 4 Months Imprisonment For Seditious Remarks

A Singapore court on Monday sentenced a Filipino nurse to four months in prison for posting inflammatory comments on Facebook against Singaporeans and lying to police investigators.

Ello Ed Mundsel Bello, 29, a former employee of government-run Tan Tock Seng Hospital, had posted comments insulting Singaporeans and calling for the takeover of the city-state by his countrymen.

State Courts Judge Siva Shanmugam sentenced Bello to three months in jail for sedition in relation to his Facebook posts, and another month for lying to police who investigated him following complaints from the public.

“In a nation whose only resource are its people, we simply cannot afford to condone any act which poses a threat to our social stability and security,” the judge said.

Prosecutors had asked for a prison term of five months. Bello’s lawyer told reporters his client would not appeal the sentence and hoped to be back in the Philippines by Christmas with a sentence reduction for good behaviour in prison.

Singapore, a densely populated immigrant nation which suffered racial riots in the 1960s, uses sedition laws to clamp down on locals and foreigners found to have incited ethnic tensions.

In a Facebook post on January 2, Bello wrote: “Singaporeans are loosers (sic) in their own country, we take their jobs, their future, their women and soon we will evict all SG loosers (sic) out of their own country hahaha.”

In a subsequent comment, Bello said “we will kick out all the Singaporeans and SG will be the new filipino state”.

After an outcry from Singaporeans, Bello took down his posts and claimed to police investigators that his account had been hacked by an unknown person. But he eventually admitted posting the comments.

Prosecutors said Bello’s misleading statements to the police aggravated his original offences and led to “unnecessary wastage” of investigative resources.

    – Provocative conduct –

Singaporeans who have written or published racist comments about other ethnic groups as well as foreigners have also been prosecuted.

The Filipino community in Singapore is estimated at more than 170,000. Once largely made up of maids, majority of the community is now in service jobs and professional positions including senior bankers and technology executives.

About 40 percent of Singapore’s population of 5.5 million are foreigners. The wealthy city-state depends heavily on guest workers because of its low fertility rate.

In his sentencing remarks, the judge said Ello’s postings on the now defunct Facebook page of an online forum called “The Real Singapore” had “the potential to harm relations between Singaporeans and Filipinos in Singapore.”

“The accused’s provocative conduct, if left unchecked, could possibly result in discrimination against the innocent and law-abiding minority Filipino residents in Singapore,” the judge added.

A Singaporean man and Australian woman behind “The Real Singapore” are themselves facing sedition charges after publishing a false report that incited vitriolic online attacks on Filipinos in Singapore.

Bello could have been sentenced to three years in prison for sedition and a year for lying to the police, but the judge said he was a first-time offender who showed remorse by pleading guilty at the first opportunity

  • Filipino Nurse Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Convited Under Sedition Act

Filipino Nurse Ello Ed Mundsel Bello Convited Under Sedition Act

Philippine national Ello Ed Mundsel Bello, 28, who made disparaging remarks about Singaporeans onFACEBOOK earlier this year, pleaded guilty to three charges on Wednesday (Aug 26).

He was convicted on one count under the Sedition Act, for promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility, and on two counts of providing false information to police. An additional charge under the Sedition Act, and another for lying to police, will be taken into consideration during sentencing.

In hisFACEBOOK post, Bello called Singaporeans “loosers (sic) in their own country”. “We take theirJOBS, their future, their women, and soon, we will evict all SG loosers out of their own country”, Bello added, saying that Singapore would be the “new Filipino state”.

The Filipino also stated that he would be “praying that disastors (sic) strike Singapore and more Singaporeans will die”. He will “celebrate” if this happens, he said.

He ended his Facebook post with the declaration: “REMEMBER PINOY BETTER AND STRONGER THAN STINKAPOREANS.”

Bello did this while employed as a nurse at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, which subsequently dismissed him over the incident, after discovering through their own investigations that Bello had made three other online posts in the same vein in 2014.

In court on Wednesday, Deputy Public Prosecutor Kumaresan Gohubalan said that Bello’s comments were “xenophobic, derogatory and inflammatory” in nature, further aggravated by the fact that his comments were published to “an enormous audience”, and that Bello displayed a total lack of remorse for his actions.

Investigations revealed that he had regularly commented on reports and articles relating to Singapore, often in a “vile, derogatory and offensive” nature, and on sensitive issues such as race and nationality.

Bello’s comments came under the spotlight when they were posted on The Kaki News Network, aFACEBOOK page with a significant public following of 30,000FACEBOOKusers. The comments went viral, and were also the subject of several police reports made against Bello.

Alarmed by the hostility generated by his comments, Bello deleted them, and lodged a report with police, stating that he was “shocked and furious that these comments had been attributed to him”.

He told police on three occasions that he did not make the offending comments on Facebook, and that hisACCOUNT had been accessed without his permission. Bello only admitted to his lies in his fourth statement to police, when “he found he could not keep up the lie”, Bello’s lawyer, Mark Goh, said.

Mr Goh also told the court that as the “delicate golden threads” of race and religion that bind Singaporean society had not been touched on by his client’s comments, Bello should be granted a lower sentence of six weeks, as opposed to the prosecution’s submission of 20 weeks’ imprisonment.

In response, DPP Kumaresan told the court that comments of this nature are “detrimental to society” and “cannot be trivialized or underestimated”, especially in a cosmopolitan society like Singapore.

Bello will be sentenced on Sep 16.

For promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility between different races or classes of the population of Singapore, Bello could have received a fine of up to S$5,000 or a jailTERM of up to three years, or both.

For giving false information to police, Bello could have faced a jailTERM of up to one year, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
