Islamic State Calls For Attacks On West, Russia, Middle East, Asia, During Ramadan

CAIRO – An audio message purporting to come from the spokesman of Islamic State called on followers to launch attacks in the United States, Europe, Russia, Australia, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and the Philippines during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began in late May.

The audio clip was distributed on Monday on Islamic State’s channel on Telegram, an encrypted messaging application. It was attributed to the militant group’s official spokesman, Abi al-Hassan al-Muhajer.

The authenticity of the recording could not be independently verified, but the voice was the same as a previous audio message purported to be from the spokesman.

“O lions of Mosul, Raqqa, and Tal Afar, God bless those pure arms and bright faces, charge against the rejectionists and the apostates and fight them with the strength of one man,” said al-Muhajer. Rejectionist is a derogatory term used to refer to Shi’ite Muslims.

“To the brethren of faith and belief in Europe, America, Russia, Australia, and others. Your brothers in your land have done well so take them as role models and do as they have done.”

  • How Credible Are “Scholars” Who Learn About Islam From Western Institutions?

How Credible Are “Scholars” Who Learn About Islam From Western Institutions?

    # Islamic Scholars from Secular & Western Universities?

While neighbouring countries celebrate local & overseas scholars who attained doctorates in Islamic universities such as Jordan, Egypt & Saudi Arabia, and take knowledge from them.

Why then are we taking knowledge & promoting local & overseas scholars from Western universities such as those in Cambridge & Oxford, and secular universities such as those in staunchly secular Tunisia?

And who can we credit for this idea of sending students for Islamic studies to secular & Western universities and to eventually promote & propagate a brand of Islam with liberal & orientalist leanings?

“Religion as a knowledge does not belong to religious institutions, but rather to SECULAR higher learning colleges. And if we speak about qualified higher learning institutions, WESTERN universities are the most competitive ones.

Thus, if you want to study Islam, particularly Indonesian Islam, it should not be at UIN or a Middle Eastern institution, but rather at such universities as in the Netherlands, the United States, or Australia.”

  • Time To Master Asian Languages

    Time To Master Asian Languages

I have noticed that many students in Singapore converse only in English.

It causes me to wonder if our mother tongues have all been reduced to just examination subjects.

This is of concern. In the light of Asia’s resurgence, are we pitching our sails right to catch the wind of change, vis-a-vis our language policies?

English has served us well as a language for commerce and technology, but our grasp of the other languages seems less adequate in plugging us into the new realities of the future.

Language is more than a code. It communicates customs and habits through the nuances embedded in it. Speaking the same language helps to strike instant rapport even between strangers, and enables people to understand and be understood by each other quickly.

Asean’s 625 million inhabitants speak a myriad of tongues. Together with India and China, the region easily makes up half the world’s population. Its potential is beckoning and it is imperative that we prepare ourselves to tap the Asian market.

While English has kept us ahead, this competitive advantage may be eroded as our Asian counterparts focus on English to complement their already strong mother tongues. They will be quicker in understanding contracts and conducting negotiations outside the English domain.

Perhaps we can design a track that coaches students in the various languages’ official terms used in commerce, science and technology from an early age.

The focus should be on enabling them to experience alternative cultures in Asia through extended cultural immersion programmes abroad.

This would allow them to better grasp how others think, and network with future leaders. They could form the backbone of leaders in different disciplines, with Asian perspectives on geopolitics, the economy and diplomacy.

A rethink of our language policy is timely, if not urgent.

We will have to bear the blame if we fail to prepare our young for their future, which will be starkly different from ours.

  • Western Control Of Muslims Is Over

Western Control Of Muslims Is Over

DURING the Christmas and New Year celebrations, most Western nations were placed on high alert for terrorist activities.
Only a decade or two ago, these nations celebrated the year-end festivities peacefully.
    Why has this change occurred?
To understand, one has to refer to conflicts in North Africa and the Middle East.
That Muslims are fighting back against aggressors was evident from the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, which was followed by al-Qaeda’s Sept 11 attacks in the United States.
The West is learning a painful lesson that the days of passive Muslim resistance are over and that they can take on the West.
The urge in the West to subjugate Muslim nations has stirred up in Muslims their right to defend their religion.
This has spawned militant groups, the deadliest being the Islamic State terrorist group.
The IS ideology of setting up a caliphate —a super state ranging from Northern Africa to the Middle East — has found favour with many Muslims, who view that the fragmented Islamic world has triggered Western intervention and that the best weapon is unity with a syariah system in place.
To Muslims, the caliphate of old is reminiscent of the golden age of Islam, when Muslims were in the forefront.
IS points out the cause of Islamic decline and that the only way to stop Western interference and dominance is for Islamic countries to unite under a caliphate with syariah as the national law. More than any other religion, Islam has a unique set of laws and is considered a way of life for Muslims.
Islamic law is second to none in its simplicity, complexity and sense of justice. Hence, Muslim nations have no need for Western ideologies, which are at odds with syariah.
This concept is opposed by the West, which profits from its divideand-rule policy used against Muslims.
The West needs to stop its interference via regime change. Left to themselves, Muslim nations will stabilise and adopt a system that works for them and their religion.
Leave Muslim countries alone and there will be peace in the world, especially in Western capitals.
The West can offer socio-economic aid as well as humanitarian assistance to Muslim nations but must refrain from interference and domination.
The age of subjugation is long gone.

Mohd Khair: How The West Defines Terrorists And Terrorism

There’s a new definition for the term ‘terrorism’ and ‘terrorists’:

Terrorism – “It is an act of terror carried out only by Muslims, killing vastly Muslims (average 90% of victims, if not all of them) in the name of Islam, especially in one of the holiest month of the Islamic calendar.”

Terrorists – “A group of Muslims who carry out acts of terror, killing vastly Muslims in the name of Islam (average 90% of victims, if not all of them), especially in one of the holiest month of the Islamic calendar.”

There’s also a new definition of a ‘loner’.

Loner – “Any mentally unstable white non-Muslim who carries out acts of terror on anyone at any time for any reason.”

These new definitions of terrorism, terrorists and loner can be found in the New Idiots Dictionary of the Western World, and Idioticpedia (the equivalent of wikipedia for idiots).
