3 Arrested For Setting Off ‘Dangerous Fireworks’ On Top Yishun Carpark On Deepavali According To Police Statement

Three men in their 30s have been arrested for setting off dangerous fireworks at a multi-storey carpark in Yishun, the police said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 24).

The men, aged between 30 and 32, had set off the fireworks at the top deck of the carpark at Block 419A, Yishun Avenue 11, at 12.07am on Deepavali (Oct 18).

After extensive investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division identified the three men involved in the accident.

Two of them were arrested on Monday (Oct 23), while a third was arrested on Tuesday.

    Investigations are ongoing.

If convicted of the offence of discharge of dangerous fireworks, they can jailed for up to two years and/or fined between $2,000 and $10,000.

Last Friday, another man was arrested for setting off fireworks on the same day at a Housing Board block in Ang Mo Kio.

The 37-year-old was arrested two days after the police were alerted to the case.

The use of fireworks in Singapore was first regulated in 1968, when rocket-type fireworks were banned after they were found responsible for a third of the 150 fires that broke out during Chinese New Year that year.

In 1972, this became a total ban with The Dangerous Fireworks act, which had stricter penalties.

  • Tuan Mufti Fatris Bakaram: Agar Beliau Dikurniakan Allah Pimpinan Dan Kekuatan Untuk Jalankan Tugas Beratnya

Tuan Mufti Fatris Bakaram: Agar Beliau Dikurniakan Allah Pimpinan Dan Kekuatan Untuk Jalankan Tugas Beratnya

  • Durians Bought At Yishun Chong Pang Market By Family Contained Worms Inside, Returned To Get Refund

Durians Bought At Yishun Chong Pang Market By Family Contained Worms Inside, Returned To Get Refund

I was craving for durians today, so my family head over to Chong Pang market fruits stall (the one with the tentage as shown in the post). The seller kept psycho us to get $18/kg durians but we ended up buying 2 @ $30 even though his attitude was bad (probably because we didn’t get the ones @ $18/kg).

I was the first to taste the durians when we got home since I was craving for it. To my horror, there were worms in the durian, faint ~ FYI, I didn’t notice till the second bite as I felt there were crunchy bits inside the flesh.

Went back to the same stall & told the seller about it. His replied was: 一个而已吗, 再选两个咯 (one only, choose another two durians lor). LOL fuck you, who wants to have the second one after the worms have digested into my stomach -.- & the seller don’t even feel apologetic at all. So my dad asked for a refund since we don’t want to have the durians anymore. Another guy passed us the $ and said 拿拿 (take take). Lol hello, we don’t owe you anything. All we want is to get the refund as the incident of having worms already grossed me.

Yishunites or whoever buys fruits from there, just be careful. Please check the quality of the fruits before consuming. You may also consider to buy fruits from the opposite stall instead.

  • Yishun Neighbours Build Wall To Keep Out Pesky Neighbour

Yishun Neighbours Build Wall To Keep Out Pesky Neighbour

An elderly neighbour in Yishun who has been dumping toilet paper, sanitary pads, dark sauce and urine on the doors of two other households has come up against a wall.

    Like, literally.

As deterrence, the two households at Block 112 Yishun Ring Road have taken to building a wall with cacti on it to keep out the elderly neighbour from the lower floor.

The harassment has allegedly been carried out daily for two years. Various other measures, such as installing surveillance cameras and lodging police reports, have failed to deter the sunglasses-donning culprit.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the two families decided to built a wall to keep out the elderly neighbour.

The wall initially had durian husks lined along the top but they started to smell after a few days. They were removed and changed to cacti.

The improvised wall had metal pieces and pipes attached.

The wall was completed on March 3, 2017, with added fortifications.

Previously, the wall was made of chairs and and boards.

A 61-year-old man who built the wall, said:

I recycled most of the materials used for the wall and completed it in five hours.

I picked up the wooden planks, pipes, and various other items outside.

As for the cacti, I grow them on my corridors, and they came in handy.

I tried using durian husks for a while, but found that they stank after a few days, so I changed them to cacti instead.

The man also said the wall has managed to keep the harassing neighbour at bay, as she can only throw rubbish and liquids from a distance and cannot get close.

The man also appealed to the authorities to step in.

  • HDB Class Singaporeans Look Forward To Raffles JC Merging With Yishun JC

HDB Class Singaporeans Look Forward To Raffles JC Merging With Yishun JC

Singaporeans from all walks of life, who believe the rich and poor, haves and have-nots, must work hand-in-hand to lift the tide so that everyone does well, are looking forward to junior colleges merging.

This after they believe Yishun JC and Raffles JC must merge to form one school to promote cross-class learning and letting the well-off help the HDB class of Singaporeans and vice-versa.

One Singaporean, Kee Oh Tng, said: “The well-off Singaporeans helping the HDB class will cause an economic trickle-down effect.”

“And when the HDB class helps the well-off, they can breed understanding and cultural learning to benefit both sides in aiding mutual respect and even inter-class marriages.”

Other locals said the merger of Yishun JC and Raffles JC bodes well for those staying in Bukit Timah and surrounding Holland Village areas.

Another local, Jin Wei Xian said: “People from Yishun can teach people from Bukit Timah and Stevens Road to be more street smart and daring, to embrace life by grabbing it by its horns.”

“This will help them to understand that the rest of Singapore does not look like Orchard Road.”
