JOHOR Darul Ta’zim (JDT) hope to sign Spanish star Fernando Torres for the 2016 M-League season.
Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim confirmed that they had contacted the agent for Torres who has just joined Italy’s AC Milan after leaving Chelsea.
Torres, who set an English Premier League transfer record when he joined Chelsea from Liverpool for 50 million pound four years ago, has a two-year contract with Milan.
The striker will be a free agent in 2016, making it easier for JDT to sign him.
Tunku Ismail said apart from Torres, the JFA also plans to recruit several top international players for the Johor team.
Among them, Tunku Ismail said, are Juventus’ Fernando Llorente and German star Mario Gomez.
Tunku Ismail said this after a JDT fans session at the Tan Sri Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin yesterday.
Tunku Ismail also named Argentine Javier Saviola and Everton’s Samuel Eto’o as possible additions to the new JDT line-up.
