  • Accountant Questions Sylvia Lim’s And AHPETC’s Accounting Practices

Accountant Questions Sylvia Lim’s And AHPETC’s Accounting Practices

As an Accountant, here’s my argument with you Sylvia Lim!

You said “We emphasise that AHPETC has ensured that payments made to FMSS are in line with and within the budget provided under the tender awarded.”

So that means when you awarded the contract, you MUST know that the Town Council will run into deficit, shouldn’t you ALERT your residents at some point in 2012-2014 and look for solution (which is to increase the TC rate again) instead of keeping quiet?

You have failed to understand the very basic of budgeting!

Next, you want to build a 1st world parliament, but you can’t even attract enough people to clean your town, have you asked yourself why?

And the only MA who bid must be your supporter, wouldn’t you be able to negotiate with them since you know their rate is going to almost “bankrupt” your beloved Town and affecting no one else but only your dear supporters?

    What business logic is this?

$300k flat professional fees?? That’s $25k per month! Why do they need to factor this in their cost before bidding for the job?

Don’t you think 在情在理,you should be questioning them for your own people’s sake?

And lastly I sincerely hope the cleaners employed by FMSS are paid at least 50% above the market rate as compared to all cleaners employed by PAP TC’s MA, since your MA is charging in accordance to the comparison, almost 50% more than other MAs, technically they must have bid at this rate due to cost roll up which means their cost must be higher.

Don’t worry Sylvia Lim, MND’s letter will not be putting you in disadvantage position.

Your supporters have compared this to the like of our Ministers’ pay and Our CPF scheme, so you have successfully convinced your supporter that you are a good opposition to vote into parliament. They will continue to support you de!

Nothing will change their mind and simply we couldn’t be bothered to do that either.

We are only interested in the people sitting on the fence!

People who will ask, am I important if I am a resident of Aljunied?

Do I want to vote in someone who cannot even run a TC well!

So let’s leave it to the people in Singapore to judge whether have Workers’ Party run the TC well since GE2011!!!

  • Foreign Worker Angels Returned Me My Wallet

Foreign Worker Angels Returned Me My Wallet

Just 30 minutes ago my doorbell rang, upon hearing it I was thinking to myself, this better not be some irritating salesman cuz I was enjoying my off day slacking on my bed. I dragged myself off my bed and out of my room to answer the door.

Through the peep hole I saw 3 Indian men standing in front of my house, I thought to myself “what the hell do they want!!”.

Still puzzled and with much suspicion I opened the door. I stared @ them and suddenly my eye zoomed into the middle guy’s hand (later introduced as “Muru Muru”), I saw a familiar item on his hand and think to myself “Why TF is he holding on to my IC and what is my wallet doing on his hand!!!”.

Speedily I unlocked my gate and walked out to them, Muru Muru said,” is this yours? Check the one thousand dollars note inside!!”. Still blur from my evening nap I immediately realized that they are angels sent from heaven to deliver my lost wallet that I haven’t even realized is gone @ that time.

I took over my IC and pulled out my 1000 dollars note kept inside my wallet and before I said anything, he said,” I am rich, I don’t need your thousand dollars”and laughed, and his two friends laughed along.

Upon saying that muru2 asked the second Indian guy “Radja” to take a picture of me and him, immediately after I said “thank you guys so much, omg, omg, omg, thank you”. I shook their hands and hugged them individually. I asked the last guy for his name but he refuse to say, he just kept wobbling his head. I insisted a group photo taken with my phone, right after that they just walked towards the lift.

As they were leaving I had so many goosebumps, as I was seeing them off, I had so many thoughts running in my mind, I wanted to offer them money but thought to myself I spent my very last 10 dollars note on lunch and all I have is a can of coins in my room, I was thinking all so vigorously what can I give back, should I offer my one thousand dollars note since they’re the one who found my wallet? If not how can I say thank you, how can I show gratitude?

They went into the lift and so they’re gone.

These thoughts, these feelings, this need to do something filled my 20 seconds walk into my room.
I grabbed a handful of coins and ran downstairs in hope to find them and probably treat them food or drinks or anything but they are gone.

Thank you Muru Muru, Radja and third Indian man. What u did is really beautiful. So graceful and untainted. I am very grateful to have you guys who found my wallet, to have you guys as neighbor, to share this space with people like you.

  • Baby With Birth Mark Spelling “Allah” Born In Refugee Camp

Baby With Birth Mark Spelling “Allah” Born In Refugee Camp

Suruc| A couple of Syrian refugees living in a Red Crescent camp in Turkey, have given birth to a baby bearing a unique birthmark on his forehead: the name of Allah in Arabic characters.

Hussein and Amira Qabbani fled Syria in June 2015, after their house was destroyed by an artillery shell, during some combat between ISIS and the Syrian army. Ms. Qabbani was already pregnant at the time, but she still walked more than 360 kilometers with her husband to reach the Turkish border.

The couple gave birth young boy, on Tuesday night, inside their tent of the Red Crescent refugee camp. The news of the young boy’s distinctive birthmark rapidly spread across the camp and even across the country, attracting attention from the Turkish media.

The birth of Mohammad as rapidly become a symbol of hope for the refugees, who have welcomed him as a message from the All-Mighty.

“This young boy is the living proof that Allah hasn’t abandoned us,” says Farid al-Nouri, another refugee. “It shows that despite all the horrors surrounding us, Allah is still watching over us.”

Other refugees from the camp, however, have criticized the media for giving so much attention to the Mohammad’s story while ignoring the misery of the other refugees.

“The journalists come here to see the baby, and they completely ignore the rest of us,” says Duraid Rezk, who has been in the camp for 16 months. “They don’t want to know that we have nothing to eat or that we are sick… al they want to see is the young boy.”

Dozens of journalists from around the Mulism world and even from Western countries, have indeed invaded the refugee camp of the last few days, and most of their reports talked almost exclusively of the young boy.

Since they appeared in the media, the Qabbanis have been handed a 3-year residence visa from the Turkish government, they have received lots of gifts from would-be sponsors and were presented with various financial and professional offers.

The couple declared this morning that they were “very happy to leave the refugee camp for a more regular life” with their son, even if it broke their heart to leave many of their friends and family behind.

  • Three-Cornered Fight Shaping Up In Macpherson SMC Between PAP, WP And NSP

Three-Cornered Fight Shaping Up In Macpherson SMC Between PAP, WP And NSP

In a surprise twist, the single-seat ward of MacPherson might be set for a three-cornered fight after all, after the National Solidarity Party (NSP)’s Cheo Chai Chen said he will throw his hat into the ring on Nomination Day morning.

Mr Cheo, 65, announced that he will stand in MacPherson when he arrived at Kong Hwa School to file his nomination papers.

This means that MacPherson will likely see a three-cornered fight between Mr Cheo, the People’s Action Party’s (PAP) Tin Pei Ling, 31, and the Workers’ Party’s Bernard Chen, 29.

Mr Cheo was an MP for Nee Soon Central from 1991 to 1997 under the Singapore Democratic Party.

Ms Tin, the incumbent MP, came in for fierce criticism at the last election but appears to have turned the tide of public opinion in her favour.

Addressing her supporters before filing her nomination papers, Ms Tin said: “Today is the day. We will put up a tough fight. We will put up our best and 101 per cent. Thank you for fighting this with me. Every vote counts we are the best party to do this.”

The WP and the NSP have crossed swords over MacPherson in recent weeks, after both sides disagreed over who should contest in the single-member constituency.

The NSP made several U-turns in the lead-up to Nomination Day over whether or not it would contest MacPherson.

After initially agreeing to not contest the seat, the NSP then voted last month to field a council member there. The decision prompted acting secretary-general Hazel Poa to resign from the party.

The party then flip-flopped on that controversial decision again, when Mr Steve Chia announced on social media that he would not contest MacPherson SMC or any other constituency in the general election, threatening to throw the party – already seemingly troubled by factional splits – into disarray.

MacPherson was part of the Marine Parade GRC in the last election in 2011 and reportedly garnered the second-highest PAP vote share among the wards in that GRC.

Candidates will file their nomination papers between 11am and noon on Tuesday (Sept 1).
