Rudy Marican: Apa Dah Jadi Dengan Masyarakat Islam Kita, Mak Sendiri Pun Tak Ambil Kisah?

Saya sedeh sanggat kerana saya sendiri dah tanamkan mak kesayangan saya!!

Saya bermohon kapada anda tolong lah buat perubahan sebelum terlambat kalau anda rasa anda dalam golongan ne…saya tak ada niat nak kecikkan hati sesiapa ya…cuma saya amat sedeh bila macik menangis kat saya..

Memang mak kita tak sempurna sepenuhnya…tapi kita pun tak sempurna kan?

Saya berdoa anda cuba lah …memang jaga mak kadang kadang ujian nya berat tapi Allah dah janji Janna kan…?

Eugene Thuraisingam: Singaporeans Must Speak Up, Demand Change

Despite the resounding condemnation by Singaporeans of all races, Ridzuan’s execution proceeded.

The life of a 32 year old snuffed out just like that. Under the shade of darkness, away from the scrutiny of the newspapers.

That is how evil operates. The worst things we do are always done in secret and in darkness.

Despite Ridzuan’s death, it was heartening to see not just M Ravi speaking up, but this time, Singaporeans of all races, from all walks of life, have stood up to be counted!

The responsibility for Ridzuan’s death lies squarely at the feet of the Attorney-General, the Law Minister and his cabinet. That is the evil that exists.

We must be aware of this. We must speak up. We must demand change!

    Our five stars dim tonight.
Our son will be no more.
Killed at the hands of strangers.
At the orders of those who do not care.
    Our five stars dim tonight.
For a cruel and unjust law.
The fate of a life, in the hands of one. Who himself doesn’t really care.
    Our five stars dim tonight.
With our million dollar men turned blind. Pretending not to see. Ministers, Judges and lawyers. Same as the accumulators of wealth.
Hiding in the dimness, like rats scavenging for scraps.
When does the new car come?
    Our five stars dim tonight.
For a law that makes no sense.
A law that’s cruel and unjust. Just as its makers, executors stand.
Jeefrey has died. Ridzuan is next.
Killed not in our names, but by the decree of one.
Fear not my friend, we tread through this darkness.
The sons of this soil have spoken. Regardless of race. Regardless of language. Regardless of religion.
As our lungs shout as one, the stars will shine again!
    The people have spoken.

  • Free Food For All Out To Set Food Distribution Record This Ramadan

Free Food For All Out To Set Food Distribution Record This Ramadan

For this year’s Muslim holy month of Ramadan, charity organisation Free Food For All (FFA) is set to provide a free meal for thousands.

On 6 June, the group will distribute 4,000 packets of food at the Sultan Mosque and Malay Heritage Centre. The mosque will also host 1,000 people during that’s evening iftar session, which is the meal taken by Muslims after sunset during Ramadan.

Speaking to Yahoo Singapore at his Changi Road office, FFFA founder Nizar Mohd Shariff said that he is working with the Sultan Mosque, Malay Heritage Centre and local flea market organiser LalooLalang for the event, which is set to start at 5pm.

The 46-year-old added that he has engaged the services of two kitchens to help prepare the food and is still looking for more sponsors to step forward and support the event.

“We are planning to distribute nasi ayam penyet for the event. Makmur Restaurant and Zorah Enterprises are helping us to prepare the food. However, due to the the high volume of food, I reckon we might need a third kitchen to help us,” said Nizar.

The founder of FFFA said that the group is also in talks with the Singapore Book of Records regarding setting a record for the most number of meals distributed during an iftar session.

Nizar said that, despite the gloomy economy, sponsors are stepping forward to help him cover his costs. FFFA is currently giving out about 2,500 packs of food to the needy every week, which costs about $25,000 a month.

He is still able to cover his costs and has been encouraged by the donations from the community, which go towards feeding the needy, especially the working poor.

“With the current economical climate, people are spending less but when it comes to donors, we do have a steady stream of people coming forward.

“Our donors are happy because our campaigns give value for them and we want to help people, especially those who are the working poor,” he said.

  • Aceh Shariah Court Sentences 2 Men To 85 Public Cane Lashes For Indulging In Gay Sex

Aceh Shariah Court Sentences 2 Men To 85 Public Cane Lashes For Indulging In Gay Sex

BANDA ACEH, Indonesia — A Shariah court in Indonesia’s conservative Aceh province has sentenced two gay men to public caning for the first time, further undermining the country’s moderate image after a top Christian politician was imprisoned for blasphemy.

The court, whose sentencing Wednesday coincided with International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, said the men, aged 20 and 23, would each be subjected to 85 lashes for having sexual relations. One of the men cried as his sentence was read out and pleaded for leniency. The chief prosecutor, Gulmaini, who goes by one name, said they will be caned next week, before Ramadan starts on about May 25.

The couple was arrested in late March after neighborhood vigilantes in the provincial capital Banda Aceh suspected them of being gay and broke into their rented room to catch them having sex. Mobile phone footage that circulated online and formed part of the evidence shows one of the men naked and visibly distressed as he apparently calls for help on his cellphone. The second man is repeatedly pushed by another man who is preventing the couple from leaving the room.

The lead judge, Khairil Jamal, said the men were “legally and convincingly proven to have committed gay sex.”

He said the three-judge panel decided against imposing the maximum sentence of 100 lashes because the men were polite in court, cooperated with authorities and had no previous convictions.

“As Muslims, the defendants should uphold the Shariah law that prevails in Aceh,” Jamal said.

International human rights groups have described the treatment of the men as abusive and humiliating and called for their immediate release. Human Rights Watch said in April that public caning would constitute torture under international law.

Prosecutors had asked that they receive 80 lashes.

Aceh implemented an expanded Islamic criminal code two years ago that allows up to 100 lashes for morality offenses including gay sex.

Caning is also a punishment for adultery, gambling, drinking alcohol, women who wear tight clothes and men who skip Friday prayers. More than 300 people were caned for such offenses last year.
