Commentary: Native Born Singaporean Personally Offended By What Happened In McPherson

As a native born Singaporean , I am personally most offended by what happened in McPherson over the Open House Organised by the RC.

For this scandalous incident to happen in a PAP ward will lend weight to the suspicion of many Singaporeans that the PAP favour New Citizens over indigenous Singaporeans . Even before this scandalous incident, many Singaporeans already felt government policies discriminated them in favour of New Citizens and that they had become refugees in their own country.

I am not against New Citizens but I demand that all Singaporeans be treated equally!

I do not accept the reasons given by the RC for this scandalous incident. Grassroot leaders should have known it was highly insensitive to have treated Singaporeans in this manner. And given the huge influx of New Citizens into our country , their advisor which was Ms Tin Pei Ling herself should have ensured that the RCs in her constituency treated all Singaporeans, including New Citizens, equally . Merely saying that she was upset over the incident is a totally inadequate response.

Macpherson RC Photo Prove That Singaporeans Are Second Class Compared To The New Citizens

Singaporeans are sick and tired of being made second class citizens in their own home.

We thought we had made it clear in 2011 that we want the rampant immigration and the social problems it causes to be rolled back, but it seems that after the 2015 elections, the PAP are back to their old ways.

When I first moved into my estate 20 years ago, I remember being greeted very often by my local Singaporean RC chairman and his members. They were always so helpful and anyone who talked with them felt at ease. National Days back then felt genuinely patriotic. We would gather and sing songs over food with neighbours from all the races, Malay, Indian, Eurasian you name it!

But as the years go by, I saw my RC members less and less. Some retired, some moved out. New committee members replaced them. In recent years, I even see an increase in RC members of questionable nationalities joining.

These days when I walk into my RC, I can no longer hear the graceful melodies of Teresa Teng being sung by our local aunties! The Karaoke Rooms are quiet, and the meeting rooms are quiet. RCs these days are more like places for people to ingratiate themselves with the PAP MP and their volunteers. Even these volunteers, many of them are unashamedly new citizens!

Where has Singapore’s Gotong Royong spirit gone?

I saw this picture and felt inspired to lament the passing on of Singapore’s golden generation. We are really living in desperate times.

  • Goh Meng Seng: Singaporeans Are Politically Illiterate Because Of PAP

Goh Meng Seng: Singaporeans Are Politically Illiterate Because Of PAP

Thought of the Day – Political illiteracy

I had a nice chat with an alumni of my Alma Mater today over lunch.

He told me that many of the Singaporeans he came into contact with are basically politically ignorant. He gave me an example that two of his close associates did not think that it is wrong that PA or Town Council under PAP’s control refusal to let opposition party use the facilities is wrong. The reasoning given was that these “belong” to PAP and it is purely politics that PAP should not allow opposition parties to use these facilities.

But when they were corrected that these facilities were built using taxpayers’ money and do not belong to PAP, they raised doubts about it!

Such political ignorance is really deep rooted all thanks to PAP’s deliberate effort in blurring the lines between itself and PA. Opposition controlled TC is expected to allow PAP to use whatever premises in their town via “grassroot organization” like PA or RC or CCC. But PA has all rights to allow PAP to use its facilities for whatever activities disguised as “grassroot events” while opposition parties were banned from using its facilities by using the excuse of “PA’s premises should not be politicized”!

And you may wonder how could well educated Singaporeans who are graduates or diploma holders, actually agree and even support such blatant abuse of tax payers’ money for partisan interests!

The conclusion my friend has made, most Singaporeans are not “Politically Educated” and PAP is very happy to maintain such Political illiteracy for Singaporeans. This I will have to agree. Do our schools teach our students on what is Democracy? Rule of Law? Separation of Powers? Judiciary Independence? Freedom of Speech and Expression? Well, only on some “abstract Highfalutin” National Pledge which PAP didn’t even believe in nor respect!

Inconsiderate RC Member BBQ Food Along Common Corridor

    Dear editor,
My inconsiderate neighbour every CNY BBQ outside the house then flower pots display until I open my door also can see…Put personal stool under my window take it like their personal garden.
Such a bully yet when my mother complain about then to the town council 15++ years ago guess what the person told my mother? Sorry please close one eye la the husband is RC member…WTF!!
And when I was in primary school we told them nicely that BBQ near plant can cause fire hazard they decided to quarrel then we call police to talk to them in the end what happen? The police just pass it off as neighbour dispute….
For sooo many years we tolerate your nonsense yet again and again you take advantage of us seriously you are such a bully spoil my CNY! still so arrogantly tell us to close the door coz you need to heat up the charcoal then what about my guest? You trying to tell me my guest should just stay indoor and all close the door? I cannot open my door for me guest to be at tht corridor too?? Don’t be ridiculous!
Pasir Ris Punggol Town Council is this how your rc member should treat their neighbors? When police tell them not to do it their still tell the police and SCDF what to do by saying that they should go assist in other major place instead of such small issue then what if fire really broke out from such small bbq?
Prevention is better than cure these people still say no one at home for so many year no complain now move back want to complain what’s the excuse? Town council already say they are wrong to do such things means no excuse!

  • SDP: Authorities Must Investigate Illegal Political Campaigning By PAP At Durian Party

SDP: Authorities Must Investigate Illegal Political Campaigning By PAP At Durian Party

Good morning friends, this is probably not the best way to start you on your week but its something you should know. Over the weekend there was a durian party organised by some grassroots organisations at the park just outside the SDP office at Jalan Gelenggang.

We heard the some people at the party shouting: “Vote PAP!” This took place at Kebun Baru, part of Lee Hsien Loong’s AMK GRC.

    Durian Party Campaign 1

    Durian Party Campaign 2

This is wrong for two reasons. The campaign period has not yet begun and it is illegal to canvas for voters. Two, this is a grassroots event presumably paid for by public funds. Why was it turned into a vote-PAP affair?

We hope authorities will look into this.
