    Indonesian Man Arrested At Causeway Pipelines For Trying To Enter Singapore Illegally

    A man was arrested at the Causeway for trying to enter Singapore illegally on Saturday (Aug 26).

    The man was seen walking between the water pipelines along the Causeway towards Singapore by the Police Coast Guard, who alerted the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) at Woodlands Checkpoint at about 7.30pm.

    Coast Guard and ICA officers found him hiding under the pipelines, with a “cylindrical flotation device”. The 47-year-old Indonesian was immediately arrested, ICA said in a statement on Monday.

    Investigations are ongoing, authorities said.

    The penalties for overstaying or illegal entry are up to six months’ jail and at least three strokes of the cane, while the penalties for abetting a person to leave Singapore illegally is a jail term of six months to two years. The abettor can also be fined up to S$6,000.

    “Our borders are our first line of defence in safeguarding Singapore’s security,” said ICA. “The security checks are critical to our nation’s security.

    “We will continue to conduct security checks on passengers and vehicles at the checkpoints and our maritime border to prevent attempts to smuggle in undesirable persons, drugs, weapons, explosives and other contrabands.”

    Man Behaved Erratically, Yelled At Driver, Resisted Arrest By TransCom Officers

    Stomper Vincent was on his way to work yesterday morning (Mar 21) when he heard a man shouting at a bus driver at Serangoon Bus Interchange.

    The Stomper said that he witnessed the commotion at around 9am.

    The man, whom the Stomper said was behaving erratically, was yelling at a bus driver on board an empty bus.

    The Stomper said that the driver had closed the doors of the bus, leaving him alone with the man still inside.

    He also said that he could hear the commotion despite being a distance away.

    Vincent added that officers from the Public Transport Security Command (TransCom) arrived soon after, and pinned the man down because he was resisting.

    According to the Stomper, they later took him away for questioning.

    Give Singaporeans A Chance, Don’t Compromise Safety And Security By Hiring Foreign APOs

    Singapore security and safety should be taken care by Singaporeans or at least SPR. No ..No to foreigners! Auxillary police companies should redesign the work of auxillaey police officers so that they will attract more Singaporeans into the workforce.

    They should emulate the Singapore Police Force or better than SPF. Offer better worklife balance and higher remuneration due to the high risk and high demand of work.

    I am sure out of thousands Singaporean retrenched workers in 2016 , ord NSmen and young school leavers and graduates could be attracted if they are given better worklife balance and emplyment package.

    There are something wrong with the HR departments in these large companies. There are many potential Singapore candidates who have applied and never even shortlisted for interviews. Why they making difficult for Singaporeans to work in their companies.

    They don’t even give opportunities to many of the Singaporean applicants who were rejected. They set high requirements for Singaporean applicants and substandard requirements for foreign applicants. We can see that in the transport and service industries where majority foreign workers can’t even speak English being employed against Singaporeans who can speak English.

    Govt should scrutinise the HR practices of these companies….mabye the management aren’t Singaporeans and building their foreign based of workers here.

    Singaporean Auxiliary Officer Not Good Enough?

    I am a auxiliary officer and have been working for close to 2 years. I have many friends that apply security part time work after they finish polytechnic. Nowadays i see there is more demand for security type of jobs.

    But now they are outsourcing to Taiwanese? I know people that are willing to do security job work ok, so don’t say that local Singaporeans don’t want security jobs. People are already looked down for choosing security guard as their first job after finishing school. It doesn’t help these people’s confidence in the job. If employers want to retain them, they must do something. Only officers like us will know this feeling.

    Even salary difference between us and the future Taiwanese officers is so big. What’s the differences they have to get more starting pay than us? They graduate from their own uni we graduate from poly but end up, we do same job. If do same job then why give them higher pay….so they coming here to become supervisors? I have my own family to feed and take care of my parents. actually we should get higher pay.

    Security Guard Protected Muslim Couple As They Prayed In Stadium

    Yesterday my husband and i attended a football game, it was Duhur time and we needed to pray. Finding a place to pray at a football stadium is tough, but we managed to find an empty corner. I was a bit nervous to pray because it wasn’t private at all, particularly in front of everyone, maybe i’m silly but i’m always paranoid i will get attacked while focused in prayer.

    My husband started praying and i get approached by stadium security. I thought in my head, here comes this guy, he’s gonna escort me out and tell us we can’t do this here. I was wrong, he came up to me and said “i am going to stand here and guard you guys to make sure nobody gives you any problems, go ahead and pray.”

    He allowed us to pray and stood in front guarding us to make sure we are safe. When i finished he came up to us shook our hands and told us to enjoy the game. SubahanAllah, an amazing experience i will never forget.
