Commentary: Majority Superiority Complex Is Real, I’ve Personally Encountered Discrimination Against Malays

So, when there are Chinese SAP schools and no Malay SAP schools, we did not make any noise about being multicultural. When someone up there stated that we are not ready for a Malay PM, we did not make noise about being multicultural. When Channel 5 showcased so many Chinese adverts and gazette, and almost no Malay ones, we did not make noise about being multicultural. When so many SMEs chose to put up “only Mandarin-speaking candidates shall apply” on their recruitment ads (we know they simply don’t want to hire us), we did not make noise about being multicultural. When the cabinet typically consists of mainly Chinese, a few Indians and only 1 Malay at any point of time (until recently) despite several very capable Malay MS & SMS (and the nation’s racial ratio), we did not make noise about being multicultural.

My point is, majority superiority complex is real. Many times I have encountered it personally.

One incident which vividly triggered my memory was a mother of my primary school friend. If you know me enough, many of my close friends are Chinese. My friend, let’s name him A. A was a close friend of mine since Primary 2. We used to eat together (despite some old man saying that Muslims refuse to sit with non-Muslims to eat, which never was a problem) during recess and play together. One day, in Primary 4, I decided to play with him after school nearer to his residence. He had the permission of his mother, initially. After a while of playing at the basketball court, his mother came down to go to the minimart, if i do remember correctly. When she saw him playing with me, she walked towards us and told him in very stern atas English, “I told you not to mix around with Malays, you’ll become stupid” (along those lines, this happened almost 20 years ago, mind you.) Upon hearing that, my heart sank, I’ve never felt so humiliated. That was the last time I played with him, and we only hi-hi bye-bye in school since then. Well, it was probably because he mixed around with me that he dropped out half-way from JC and decided not to continue studying, sorry auntie.

That didn’t deter me from making so many more close Chinese friends, though; I met my best friend Silas Yeo in P5.

My race in my IC is always a factor, when I do well or don’t do well. I tutor maths well, suddenly, the comments are, I’m “not so Malay”, but when I failed Maths in Sec 1, that’s expected coz I’m Malay. When they see me (a young Malay man) drive a BMW, they ask whether I’m an Uber driver now. In fact, just the other day, my brother Muhammad Irshad’s BMW was reversed into by an MPV driven by a middle-aged man, the friend of the man asked my brother twice if it was a rental car (hinting that it may be a PHV). My aunt, Suriati who stays in a landed property house took a taxi home one day and the taxi driver’s comment when she was alighting was, “Here is cheap ha? So many Malays stay here”.

It will never be a problem until a minority gets a little bit more. Anyway, a Malay president is not at the top of our wishlist, either.

This is in no way a racist post. I posted this because I feel strongly about the discrimination against my race. I’m sorry if it had hurt anyone, but I’m just creating an awareness that such mentality exists and we need to work together to eliminate such thoughts, so that we can move forward as one Singapore.

Sinkie Pervert Trying To Blackmail Girl By Asking For Nudes

Cyber-extortion, especially blackmail, are some of the most popular cases in Singapore.

Over the weekend, I decided to be morally righteous for a bit to track down an anonymous pervert.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not the police. But I’ve come to realise that in cases like these, there are really no other avenues for the victim to seek help from if she has little to no evidence.

So what do you do? I also don’t know siak. Anyone with experience can share your tips? The only tips I’ve got are either illegal or very illegal.

DPM Teo: Important For Chinese Community To Supports These Provisions, So That Minority Communities Always Feel Assured..

Singaporeans have questioned the need for the reserved election, as well as for the group representation constituencies (GRCs) and ethnic integration rules in Housing Board estates, since the country already enjoys racial and religious peace and harmony.

But the reason Singapore enjoys such harmony “is because we have been far-sighted enough to put in place these provisions”, said DPM Teo at the 100th anniversary dinner of Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple in Paya Lebar.

He added: “It is particularly important that the Chinese community supports these provisions, so that our minority communities will always feel assured.”

In 1988, the GRC system was introduced to ensure Parliament will always have minority MPs. A year later, the Government put in place the Ethnic Integration Policy which mandates a quota for all communities in HDB estates, to prevent racial enclaves from forming.

Most recently, changes were made to the Constitution to reserve presidential elections for a racial group not represented for five continuous terms.

In making the various changes, DPM Teo said, Singapore has avoided situations in which HDB estates are segregated by race, or where minority communities worry about representation in Parliament or the presidency.

“These provisions have helped us achieve the precious harmony that we have.

“We all hope that one day we will not need them,” he added.

But not right now, he indicated.

“In the face of growing racial and religious strife in our region and the world, it is wiser to have these provisions in place to maintain our harmony,” he said, reiterating a point he spoke about earlier in the day at the National Security Conference.

DPM Teo urged Singaporeans from all communities to give their support to Madam Halimah Yacob, Singapore’s first Malay President in 47 years since President Yusof Ishak, who died in office in 1970.

She was declared President in a walkover in the country’s first reserved election this month.

DPM Teo noted that Madam Halimah was a strong unifying figure. “All communities have supported her nomination. Let us give her our full support.”

He said Singapore’s pioneer leaders had laid the foundation for promoting racial harmony and urged all Singaporeans to continue with the work.

“We must continue to reach out to each other, adopt inclusive practices and social norms that allow all Singaporeans to interact freely, and enlarge our common space,” he said.

Commentary: Are Authorities Taking The ‘Mystery Smell Haze’ Incident Seriously With Terror Attacks Rampant Around The World?

It was disappointing to hear the authorities here say that they were not able to establish what the mystery smell, which was detected in several parts of Singapore on Monday.

Singaporeans were left to speculate as to where it might have originated from.

The noxious “vapour cloud” was widespread, observable to the naked eye, persistent and, reportedly, carried slowly across the island without significant dissipation in strength or coverage.

Breathing in the polluted air produced discomfort, including dryness in the throat, eye irritation and headache. I can personally attest to this.

Many others must share my disappointment that the teams sent by the Singapore Civil Defence Force to investigate could only declare that they “have not detected the presence of toxic industrial chemicals in the air”.

National Environment Agency officers presumably found nothing either, given the agency’s statement that “air quality levels during the period were found to be well within safety limits”.

This is despite thousands of people seeing the smoke, being adversely affected and becoming more than a little alarmed.

Something is wrong either with our senses or the agencies’ test equipment and investigation protocols.

Surely, with all the talk on terror attacks, incidents like this should be viewed more seriously.

Local Renovation Company Wants To Help Rebuild The Flat That Caught Fire; Needs Donor Contributions As Well

    Salaam Friends,

It is my intention to make it a yearly affair and help those families in need.

Last year, together with my partner, Mohamad Nazareen, Hamizan Shah and a few anonymous donors, we managed to rebuild one kitchen cabinet that is in near collapse condition.

This year, I came across a couple whose flat caught fire and in need of some goodwill assistance to rebuild their flat.

Hence, Im calling for my friends who would like to participate in this charity work and rebuild their kitchen cabinet to ease their financial stress.

Personally, i’l match any donors dollar-for-dollar basis (up to 1k) to get it started. Any amount will be helpful towards this cause.

I estimate that it would cost 2k to do a basic kitchen cabinet.

    Im looking to provide and install these items to the owner;
    1. 12ft kitchen cabinet
    2. 8ft solid surface
    3. Kitchen sink and tap
    4. Cooker hood and hob

Do pm me if you would like to participate. I hope to achieve the required funds at the soonest.

    You can read up on the story here;

Thank you in advance. May god bless our good intention. Insyallah.
