  • A Mother’s Plea To Save Her Son

A Mother’s Plea To Save Her Son

Mother’s Day is only less than a month away, but all I wanted for Mother’s Day is for my son Syaqir to be well!
My son Syaqir is an active 14 year-old boy with a bright future ahead of him.

On the fateful 08 April morning, Syaqir was complaining about his thump being painful but with no visible swollen, and the next day, it happen to his wrist. However, that evening, he contracted fever and it rises to 39 degrees and we have to choice but to bring him to KK Hospital.

Doctors suspect dengue and run tests on him, but it came back negative, which they proceed to run various tests including MRI, blood culture and CT Scan. There’s no sign of swollen on him, but his fever still persist.

While waiting, doctors gave him antibiotic for his inflammation, and when the result came back, he was diagnose with Sepsis. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that arises when the body’s response to infection injures its own tissues and organs. Common signs and symptoms include fever, increased heart rate, increased breathing rate, and confusion. If left untreated, it can caused organ failure.
As Syaqir is in great pain, doctors at KK Hospital gave him antibiotics, morphine and sedate him, placed him on oxygen gas and kept in incubator, so he can rest in order to grow his anti-bodies to fight the disease.

As time passed, doctors told us the bacteria is still growing but couldn’t find the source, and that’s where we starts to get really worried. During this time, his lower body starts to swell, as well as found tiny white dots on his head, so they gave him higher dosage of antibiotics.
The thundering comment was when they came back after trying for so many days, they are giving up to diagnose his illness. Surgery was suggested but with no confirmation on source, they are just blindly cutting him up to locate the source. Which Mother in the world would take that risk!

That’s where we seek second opinion and found a private hospital which they immediately locate the source and advice they have the treatment for him with 99% of recovery.

However, the treatment would cost around $200,000, and due to all the trial in KK Hospital, there’s damaged done to his body which require immediate attention. Private hospital doesn’t subsidize medical fees, so we are asking for help!
We are desperate to seek funding and even looking at selling our HDB flat in order for Syaqir to receive his treatment.
Again, I’m pleading for any help from the general public as a Mother who only want her precious son to be well. No amount is too small and we appreciate your thoughts!

We thank you from the bottom of our heart.

Nina Shariff – Mother of Syaqir

  • Daughter Of Uncle Abused At Hawker Centre – Self-Entitled Brats Will Get What They Deserve

Daughter Of Uncle Abused At Hawker Centre – Self-Entitled Brats Will Get What They Deserve

Today, no words can express my outrage and disgust to learn of an incident that happened to my dad. The incident took place on 21st April (this past Fri night) and I only got to know of it through several online postings and after watching the video. (For my peeps on the other side of the globe, you can read about it in the link I’ve posted below. Now that it has gone viral, even YouTube has the video..oh geez…ikr.. it’s pretty shameful but it happens….)

What I find unbelievable is for the entire 2 days, my dad never for once mentioned a word of it. When I ask him why hasn’t he made it known to us? Why hasn’t he made a report? In his own words, he tells me he didn’t think anything will come out of it, will the police even act on it? ..does it make sense to pursue it?.. Furthermore, will anyone even going to believe him? It will be just his words …So what can he do? He figured he will have to just brush it off, and move on..so no point mentioning……I was stumped for a moment, only then it dawned on me that there are folks out there, like my dad, who fell victims to similar unruly behaviors, and yet do not think they have a voice or view that any appropriate action will be taken for all it’s worth… what my dad didn’t know (since he is not exactly the most tech savy person) is the whole incident was captured and recorded on video…over the course of 2 days, multiple eye witnesses have stepped forward and filed police reports …and for that, I am forever grateful to Manny who posted the video and the ones who brought to light of this incident and also for those (like Janice ,Trish and the netizens) who righteously have the courage to stand up, to speak up, and to take action against the bullying.

Our hawker and food centres are public places. Seatings are first come first serve basis. While I understand it’s common practice for many of us (including myself) to leave an artifact to reserve seats while queuing for food, since when does this equate to entitlement or ownership of these public items? To get in depth with Singapore’s infamous “chope seat” system will require a whole separate discussion, which I am not about to get into here ….Bottom line is (doesn’t matter who is there first) , my dad only wanted to share the table, there were only 2 of them (the couple) and their food wasn’t even ready….Will it kill them just to share the seats??! I mean ..seriously??!! Not only the woman was uncouth with her hurling of abusive profanities, her companion just had to despicably ram my dad from behind, trying to knock him off his feet!

Last but not least, thank you all for the heart warming support, the vigilantes who keep a watchful eye on the wrongdoings, and took care to lookout for those who are vulnerable. The culprits are still Scot free. If any of you can kindly identify them or have someone in mind, (please NO cyber posting of names or bullying). .. just notify the police at 1800 -255 -0000 at your own discretion…the police will verify the identities of the culprits first in any case, so that we don’t falsely accuse the innocents.

to the ugly couple who did this to my dad, you know who you are..what goes around comes around.. even if we don’t find you.. God sees everything.

  • SLA Takes Legal Possession Of Three Freehold Terrace Houses

SLA Takes Legal Possession Of Three Freehold Terrace Houses

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) took legal possession of three freehold terrace houses along Merpati Road which had busted their deadline to move out after the land in the area was gazetted for acquisition in 2010 for redevelopment and construction of the Downtown Line on Tuesday (April 25). Their neighbours from 12 other households had all moved out.

None of the owners handed over their keys when a team of SLA officers, led by its deputy chief executive Simon Ong, visited the houses on Tuesday to issue the owners their final warning and notice of legal acquisition.

The two-storey houses, situated across the street from the upcoming Mattar MRT Station, had been given four rounds of extension spanning 20 months from the original deadline in 2015 to give up the land, said the SLA.

The SLA officers told reporters on site that they managed to speak with Mr George Oh, who lives with his two brothers at house number 29. Mr Oh, they said, “understands the significance” of the move and has promised to move out in a few days.

Occupants at houses number 27 and 33 did not respond to the officers and the notices were dropped into their letterboxes.

Mr Oh, 60, who has been living at the property since 1974, told reporters that his younger brother, a 54-year-old car mechanic, was resistant to moving out because he works in the area. His elder brother, 64, is physically immobile.

They have bought a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat, which is currently undergoing renovation, and will move out “gradually” as the works near completion, he said.

Still, it is emotional and challenging for the family, said Mr Oh, who added that they were hoping for another extension.

“But they said cannot, that we have to move out… in one to two weeks… It was very hard to get a landed property,” he said.

Asked if the compensation offered by the Government was sufficient, Mr Oh said no, but declined to reveal how much he was given.

TODAY understands that market compensation of between S$1.7m and S$3.3 million was offered to them, alongside various other concessions, such as priority for Build To Order HDB applications, waivers of various fees and charges such as stamp duty and legal fees.

  • Jafri Basron: Singaporean Malay And Chinese Stallholders Cannot Survive In Changi Business Park

Jafri Basron: Singaporean Malay And Chinese Stallholders Cannot Survive In Changi Business Park

There are TOO MANY INDIANS at the Changi Business Park that lead to failures in business selling Chinese and Malay foods.

There are many buildings at CBP and almost every building have their own food courts.

I observed that many stall-holders selling Chinese or Malay food would fold-up after sometimes due to poor business environment as there are few locals working in the vicinity . Hiwever, Indian food stall-holders is doing a roaring business there.

Each time a stall becomes vacant, another Indian food stall would open. Whether it is indian vegetarian food, north indian food, south indian food, chapati or briyani rice will be available.

In some of the food courts; more than 80% of the stalls are selling Indian related food.

I would like to take this opportunity to urge Singaporeans to open up their eyes and look hard at the present situation.

Singaporeans will soon be squeezed out of their own country if they continue to support the PAP Government who is more inclined to the foreign Indian community due to the CEHA agreement materialised between Singapore and India. In the afreement, Singapore government has to allow thousands of Indian workers to work and lives in Singapore and this takes up many jobs which is supposed to be filled by Singaporean.
