Glass-Top Gas Stove Shattered While Owner Was Cooking

Ms Suzalinah Saidee had just stepped away from her glass-top gas stove while cooking lunch yesterday when she heard a loud sound.

It was her Turbo Italia kitchen hob shattering in her home at Block 420, Pasir Ris Drive 6. She was boiling meat at around 12.45pm, and had walked five steps away when she had to rush back and turn off the gas.

“I was so shocked,” said the housewife. “My husband was like: ‘What is happening?’” Her husband was in the living room, and her three children and domestic helper were all out at the time.

The incident comes one month after Electrolux recalled four models of its glass gas cooker hobs, following reports from customers of glass tops shattering while in use.

Ms Suzalinah said her stove, which she purchased on Jan 11, 2014, had some issues previously. On two separate occasions, she had to replace the ignition switch.

At 3pm, Ms Suzalinah called her gas supplier, who advised her to turn off the main supply.

At 5pm, she called Best Denki, where she had bought the stove, and was told somebody would be in touch with her. Ms Suzalinah, 50, said she will not be touching the stove until it has been looked at by the manufacturer.

  • Playboy Mentally And Physically Abused Girlfriend, Calls Her “Used Toy” Even After She Aborted Their Baby

Playboy Mentally And Physically Abused Girlfriend, Calls Her “Used Toy” Even After She Aborted Their Baby

(This was the original post I’ve uploaded, I was too soft-hearted and removed it. Despite whatever you’ve done to me, I forgive you. Because I’m much better of a person than you are. But since you decided to be so heartless to someone who once loved you so much, and making it worse after the breakup, you want fame I’ll give it to you…. & my dear ladies in a similar plight, please learn to ❤️ yourself, you deserve better)

    Do not use my love for you to hurt me;

Throughout this relationship never once did we have an argument I would publicized it on Facebook, because even just a status stating I’m unhappy would anger the shit out of you. Neither am I allowed to confide in my best friend or my mother. Because you wish to retain the “good impression” to outsiders. And being the weak me, I would always succumb to your commands bottling up all the negativity. But this time I will no longer fight for this relationship, there is nothing left to hang on to anyway.

When you were chased out from your home by your family, we took you in without any hesitation. Even when your own sister-in-law chided you for always bringing random girls back causing the place to not feel like a home, I stood by you. A part in me believe you will change into a better person, despite the red lights signaling a wrong move, we tried our best to shower you with love thinking you probably lack of family warmth as a result your character is moulded that way.

Months at my home, spending each day with you slowly I start to gain sight of how you really are as a person. You lack the gesture to even contribute your part given my family is kind enough to let you stay without any cost because they love me, they did all they could to make you feel accepted here. You had a strong caffeine addiction, even requesting you to replenish a pack would infuriate you. You had the cheek to tell me “ 一家人住在一起需要那么计较?” My mother seeing you earning not that well, would get you food most of the time without any complaints. We would have our weekly family outings, all expenses was on our side but we didn’t make a fuss as long as we live harmoniously. My parents do not need you to pay them back, but you merely took it for granted. They do not owe you anything, they don’t have to treat you like their son. All they want is for you to treat their beloved daughter better.

In return what have you done to me? I had my first child with you, though eventually I had to make a devastating decision which was to undergo an abortion. I am very family oriented and I love children. Can you imagine the pain and guilt I will carry throughout my life when I had to take it away? Even making this decision, my first consideration was you. I didn’t want you to slog yourself with work trying to keep our baby plus you have a kid yourself. I didn’t want us to slum into a marriage disaster because we’re not financially ready and the foundation of our relationship wasn’t strong. But did you have the same compassion towards me? How heartbroken was I when you blamed me for causing you to be in a debt because of the abortion fees just few days after the surgery when I’m still recuperating, screaming to my face “You gian song time, never think of consequences, so now I must bear all responsibility???”

We couldn’t have normal couple activities due to financial constraints. Even watching a movie was a luxury. All you could do, was bring me to coffee shops and walk around shop houses. You would always claim to be on a tight budget, I wasn’t well off either. But I would try and squeeze out whatever I have. Despite how much I had to scrimp with you, little things like forgo my fave Starbucks and brew my own coffee at home, I had no resentment as long as I’m spending time with you. I wanted to make our future work out, I took up a job that pays well despite high level of stress in the job scope and working 10 over hours a day. But coming home, I couldn’t get a peace of mind. All I wanted to do after work was to rush home and see you. Seeing you smile and hoping you can encourage me to strive on 再辛苦也值得 …You detested the job because my colleagues and bosses were men? Because they’re well to do and they would influence me into a money-minded person? Or was it because of your pride given I’m earning more than you? Eventually resignation was the only option to salvage this relationship.

I love you at the expense of my misery. You were mentally abusing me every single day with your words and actions. My entire social circle was cut off, any person who “loves” my post/photo would be immediately blocked. Any male sending a text be it work related or casually asking how am I would led into a interrogation session and scolding even when I’m not replying to them. I couldn’t even have coffee time with my best girlfriend of 15 years near my block, because then it seems like I’m abandoning you at home alone having fun outside and that she will brainwash me.

I was basically imprisoned and manipulated by you, I wasn’t allowed to use my phone at home because you think I’m online on Facebook to gain attention when I’m just scrolling through newsfeed. I wasn’t allowed to wear what I desire because then I’m indirectly instigating you to pick a fight with strangers that’s looking at me. And these were just one of the many restrictions, instead of appreciating my effort that I’m complying with your rules, you felt I’m obligated to do all this.

The day I decide to let go, because it seems like I’m still not good enough. You fooled me around in circles again. Leaving me stranded for hours when I only wish to take back some belongings. I don’t understand what have I done to deserve such cruelty?

I was all out loyal towards you and draining myself in the process of loving you, but were you completely honest and faithful to me? You always felt I’m the most rotten woman, I’m the root of all your problems. Despite countless setbacks, I persevered till today. Why? We were hoping you would change, and you did.
    You changed for the worse…

I’m really sorry my little baby, mama failed to bring you into a happy family.

  • The Yishun Dream Or Nightmare?

    The Yishun Dream Or Nightmare?

I was looking for a project to work on whenever I’m procrastinating, and I eventually settled on doing something about Yishun, following the spate of crazy incidents that have happened there in recent years. So, I designed a website and compiled an interactive map that marked down (almost) every noteworthy incident – murders, suicides, vice, shitty luck, cursed environment and the crazy folks – from as far back as 2008. There are articles and accompanying multimedia about each incident, conveniently color-coded and categorised, so this one-stop resource about the dystopian town is about as exhaustive as it can get.

I wanted to see if it was pure media hype or something that bears genuine concern, and while I still feel the town’s notorious reputation was a classic case of over-representation in the alternative media, there are some incidents that really made me scratch my head in awe. In particular, there is one very distinctive area where most of the stuff happens – an area enclosed by Yishun Ring Road which I termed “The Devil’s Ring”. Over half of what grabbed the headlines in Yishun happened within that circle. The other notable spot is along Yishun Ave 2. That road is cursed, period.

There is definitely some merit in claiming that Yishun is a place of loonies and psychopaths. Here are some of my favorite stories – when reading their headlines, you kinda know it happened in Yishun:

    1) Man strips and plays with his genitals once MRT enters Yishun (https://yishun.town/crazy/mrtstrip)

    2) Man loses temper after cashier ran out of spoons for his yogurt (https://yishun.town/crazy/yogurt)

    3) Two accidents at the same exact spot within 15 minutes (https://yishun.town/cursed/15minutes)

    4) Academically-poor students banned from celebrating Racial Harmony Day (https://yishun.town/crazy/rhdban)

    5) Resident didn’t know she was growing watermelons that were hanging outside her house (https://yishun.town/crazy/watermelon)

    6) 1.5m-long monitor lizard appears outside lift (https://yishun.town/nature/monitorlizardhdb)

    7) LTA spent 100 days building bicycle path, but tears it down the day after it was completed (https://yishun.town/cursed/bicyclepath)

    8) Crazy cat lady abandoned 39 cats in her HDB flat (https://yishun.town/crazy/39cats)

    9) Women booked $0.20 Uber ride to Yishun, got dumped at police station in Ubi (https://yishun.town/cursed/ubiluggage)

    10) Bus catches fire but passengers don’t want to alight (https://yishun.town/cursed/busfire)

There are many more, including six tragic murders, cat killers, and very interesting characters in the area. Hopefully, you guys would enjoy the stories I’ve gathered on the site, and to all my followers living in Singapore’s most dystopian town, may the invisible guy in the sky have mercy on your souls.

    Onwards to the next project!

  • Reform Party: To Maintain A Reliable News Source, Government Must End Control Over Media

Reform Party: To Maintain A Reliable News Source, Government Must End Control Over Media

Chee Hong Tat, Minister of State for Communications and Information, said today (Saturday January 28 2017) that it was critical for Singapore to continue to have a national broadcaster that people can turn to as a credible and reliable news source:

“I think it’s critical for us to continue to have a credible national broadcaster that Singaporeans can turn to as a credible and reliable source of news, and also to understand what’s happening around them both locally and (in) the region,”

This is just the usual pathetic justification for the PAP to maintain a media monopoly. Despite state control of the media since the 1970s, many Singaporeans still seem unaware of the fact that Temasek, run by the PM’s wife, owns Mediacorp and that the Government controls Singapore Press Holdings through the Newspapers and Printing Presses Act. This gives the Government the right to directly appoint the management and the editors. Many former chief editors, like the late President Nathan, have been appointed directly from the Internal Security Department or ISD. So when Chee Hong Tat says that what we need is a “reliable” source of news he means one that can be reliably counted on to support the Government.

In fact the Government relies on state media to do more than just support it. It uses its lackeys in the state media to create fake news and defame and ridicule its opponents. When challenged on their lies and inaccuracies the state media does not apologise. Sometimes it amends the story without explanation or just removes it, as happened when the Business Times removed a piece making fun of death threats against the Reform Party’s SG during the Punggol East by- election.

As long as the PAP has a monopoly over the media we will not get a credible news source merely one that provides a constant diet of Government propaganda. There is not even an independent body to which you can appeal if the state media defame you or breach your privacy. We do not have an independent Press Complaints Commission unlike the UK. This has the power to compel newspapers to publish corrections and retractions to false stories and to publish apologies.

Over the last few years the Government has moved to tighten its grip even further on what little independent media there is. News websites are required now to register with the Media Development Authority and put up a deposit if they receive more than 25,000 views per day from Singaporeans. This will be forfeited if they fail to take down content that MDA objects to. In 2014 the Government closed down The Real Singapore, alarmed by its financial success, and then prosecuted and jailed its editors, one of whom was pregnant. Alternative news sites such as The Online Citizen (TOC), have been brought to heel by being designated as political and barred from accepting foreign advertising, even though they were set up by individuals connected with the PAP in the first place.

Now the Government looks set to tighten its grip on information to ensure that only its version of events gets out there. After Mindef lost the case it brought against TOC and Dr Ting Choon Meng under the Protection from Harassment Law (POHA), the Government has not denied that it is planning to amend the law so as to protect Government Ministries from what it views as false statements:

“At a time when false information can affect election results, contaminate public discussions and weaken democratic societies, it is important for the Government, as well as corporations and individuals, to be able to respond robustly to false statements that could poison public debate and mislead decision-making. Everyone, including the Government, should be entitled to point out falsehoods which are published, and have the true facts brought to public attention,”

Eugene Tan, the Government’s preferred rent-a-pundit, has echoed this call for special protection for the Government, notwithstanding all the resources it already has to put its case across through its state media monopoly. Tan said it is not a question of whether entities require protection from harassment and falsehoods, but about protecting public bodies from having to devote resources in what may amount to a “war of attrition”, and ensure as little misinformation as possible.

“There is little social value in protecting speech designed to harass or perpetuate falsehoods,” he said.

Unfortunately there is no symmetry. The Government is seeking to extend its overwhelming control of the media to put its propaganda across while at the same time stifling any criticism from independent websites or blogs by taking them down for spreading “false information” or forcing them to carry the Government’s rebuttal. As we have seen again and again, this right is not extended to individuals or the Opposition in the Government’s own media mouthpieces.

Reform Party also agrees it is vital for Singaporeans to have access to reliable news. However we differ from the Government. At present the predominant source of fake news in Singapore is the PAP Government. Singapore under PAP rule is about as far as it is possible to get from a democratic society.

We believe that you can only ensure the news is reliable if it comes from a plurality of sources in a competitive environment. Therefore we would divest Mediacorp as part of the process of privatizing and listing Temasek. We would also abolish the Newspapers and Printing Presses Act and allow anyone to start a newspaper. Finally we would not seek to apply the POHA to Government agencies that already have robust tools at their disposal to rebut criticism.

  • Ex-Policeman Loses Appeal, Death Sentence Upheld For Kovan Double-Murder

Ex-Policeman Loses Appeal, Death Sentence Upheld For Kovan Double-Murder

Former policeman Iskandar Rahmat will not be spared the noose for the Kovan double murder in July 2013.

The Court of Appeal on Friday (Feb 3) upheld his two death sentences for viciously stabbing to death Mr Tan Boon Sin, 67, and his 42-year-old son Chee Heong.

The murder weapon, a knife, was never found.

Iskandar, 37, was found guilty and sentenced to death on Dec 4, 2015. Justice Tay Yong Kwang had said that he had “no doubt” the former policeman, facing bankruptcy and dismissal from the force, intended to kill the elder Mr Tan for his money.

When Mr Tan’s son got home “at the most inopportune moment” and witnessed his father’s murder, “he quickly became collateral damage”, Justice Tay had said.

Father and son died of multiple stab wounds to the face, neck and chest.
