Wearwhite: Homosexual Propaganda Distorts The Truth In Islam

    – The writer of “Why Does Gay Sex Scare Modern Muslims?” conflates the clear teachings of Islam with the actions of some Muslims. This is what Islamophobes do all the time too.

    – To the author Truth is true only when it conforms to the demands of the context, no matter what the context is.To him if Muslims want to be accepted in Europe, Islam must not reject Homosexuality. This is to say that truth is nothing but the product of the context and is subservient to it. In Islam, what is real (reality) is not necessarily true. It is truth that must be made into reality, not the other way round. We should not confuse what is with what ought.

    – Fundamentalism in the sense that we should return to the fundamentals of Islam is nothing but good.

    – When God said he created this for that purpose, this is what Muslims mean by natural, any kind of action that strayed away from that purpose is considered as an unnatural act, a transgression. Therefore, the very act of consciously turning away from the opposite sex for the same sex to satisfy one’s sexual need – in any way – is explicitly prohibited in The Quran :

“Of all the creatures in the world, you approach the males? And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, you are a people of transgression.” (Quran 26:165-166)

How explicit than this do you want the Quran to be?

    – The verses quoted above is enough to debunk the “rape theory”.

    – Yes, The Quran does not condemn those men who are not in need of women (24:31), but the Quran also does not say that they are in need of men or sanction homosexuality. This is a clear fallacy of Non Sequitur.

    – The author seems to necessitate sex in a love relationship between men, with his logic all men who love their fellow men passionately must be homosexuals, to stretch this faulty logic further, it will not be wrong to say that when there is love between a father and his daughter the relationship must be incestuous.

    – Linking conservatism with ISIS’ atrocities is a clear example of slippery slope.

We know that such brittle articles will keep on coming, because if your position is weak, you have nothing to strengthen it with but repetition and paraphrasing.

Wearwhite: We Support The Expression Of Concern By Roman Catholic Archbishop William Goh Over The Upcoming Concert By Madonna

All religions taught us to have a higher and deeper sense and taste of aesthetics and arts. To entertain with lust and immorality is easy, cheap & hollow.

Wearwhite supports the statement of archbishop William Goh.

    Let us return to Fitrah.

Archbisop William Goh’s statement is available at https://sg.news.yahoo.com/singapore-archbishop-warns-flock-against-madonna-concert-063258861.html

Singapore’s Roman Catholic archbishop has expressed concern at an upcoming concert by pop diva Madonna in the city-state and warned his flock against supporting those who “denigrate and insult religions”.

Archbishop William Goh said in a statement posted on the diocese website on Saturday that he had met various government officials to express the church’s concerns about the February 28 concert, part of her global Rebel Heart Tour.

The concert, at the 55,000-seat National Stadium, will be Madonna’s first-ever in largely conservative Singapore.

She was barred from performing in Singapore in 1993 after police said her performances bordered on the obscene and were “objectionable to many on moral and religious grounds”.

Goh said that in a multi-ethnic society like Singapore “we cannot afford to be overly permissive in favour of artistic expression at the expense of respect for one’s religion”.

Authorities have assured the archbishop that restrictions have been placed to ensure that content deemed offensive to religious beliefs would not be allowed on stage, the church statement said.

The Media Development Authority has restricted the concert to those aged 18 and above because of sexual references.

Local media reports said Madonna would not be performing a controversial tour segment called Holy Water, which includes dancers dressed as scantily-clad nuns performing on cross-shaped stripper poles.

The church statement said many Roman Catholics have voiced outrage at Madonna’s “disrespectful use of Catholic and other Christian symbols” in her performances.

“There is no neutrality in faith; one is either for or against. Being present (at these events) in is itself a counter-witness,” the archbishop said.

He warned his flock against supporting “the ‘pseudo arts’ that promote sensuality, rebellion, disrespect, pornography (and) contamination of the mind of the young”.

Some Catholics said they supported the archbishop’s decision and would not attend the concert.

Student Kevin Koh, 24, said he would not go but would not pass judgement on fellow Catholics who attend.

“Singapore as a society has to start being open to these things because we can no longer live in our own shells,” he told AFP.

Some online comments were critical, with one commentator saying the faithful should be allowed to make their own decisions.

  • End The Slur On LGBT People And Their Allies

End The Slur On LGBT People And Their Allies

The annual Pink Dot event has put Singapore on the map for the right reasons (“LGBT rally forms sea of pink at Hong Lim Park”; June 13, online).

It has become a beacon of hope for many who feel alone and victimised because of who they are, so much so that it has been replicated in places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and the United States.

Of late, unfortunately, the lead-up to Pink Dot, an event emphasising tolerance, respect and love, has been marred by vitriol directed at the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community and their allies.

Hatemongers have created platforms on social media from which they hurl their slurs. Offline, some have used the pulpit to launch attacks against LGBT people and their supporters.

Many, including those who had been neutral in the issue, have felt compelled to speak out against this bigotry. But the silence of the authorities, who have intervened in racial, religious or gender discrimination, is puzzling.

Replacing the word “LGBT” in this hateful commentary with an ethnic group or religious affiliation would render the remarks seditious.

Replacing “gay” or “lesbian” with a reference to a gender, age group, social class or the disabled would not sit well with civic-minded Singaporeans.

The authorities and our politicians must not practise double standards, but be bold to speak up against such speech. Silence emboldens bigots and would mean complicity in the hate campaign.

This is not about supporting LGBT people but about supporting a society where everyone is treated with dignity and about creating a safe society, where discourse is civil.

Will our leaders respond to protect the secular space in Singapore and signal that such actions are unacceptable?

  • Gay Singaporean: I Think The Government Is A Closet Gay Supporter

Gay Singaporean: I Think The Government Is A Closet Gay Supporter

    Dear all,

I think our Singapore government secretly supports the repeal of S377A and same-sex marriage except they don’t officially declare it so as not to upset religious voters who are the vocal minority but pretend to be the silent majority as if they represent all Singaporeans.

If you look at the SEA Games competition, we can see some national athletes who are of a similar orientation. Yes they do not openly declare and scream about their orientation but they are free to represent the country.

Similarly, the govt service has also mention before that they do not discriminate based on orientation, but of course they try to keep this matter hush hush so as not to piss off those meddlesome butt hurt conservatives.

Our time will come soon. In the meantime, cheers to Pink Dot. 🙂

  • Respect Singapore: Actions Of #WearWhite Against Pink Dot Sg Is Petty

Respect Singapore: Actions Of #WearWhite Against Pink Dot Sg Is Petty

If you are preparing to be part of the #WearWhite movement today, please consider this.

If you are a Christian, how did you feel when, on your Good Friday, the Dallas-Fort Worth atheist group sent an email to 50 pastors with the words “God is Dead, Have a Good Friday”?

If you are a Muslim, how did you feel when, during your Ramadan, Alvin Tan posted a photo of pork rib soup with the words “Happy Breaking Fast”?

If you are conservative or religious, how would you feel if, during your celebration of your events or festivals, counter-events or processions are organized challenging your beliefs or criticizing your faith?

Standing up for what you believe in is one thing, doing so on the one day out of an entire year that the LGBT choose to gather as a community is another thing altogether. Call it what you will, but it’s really a form of picketing. It’s antagonistic, petty, unnecessary.

Just for one day, let the LGBT be. Be a bigger person than your organizers. Let the LGBT be happy and, if possible, be happy for and celebrate with them. The same way they (and we) are happy when we celebrate your festivals with you.

Congratulations and best of luck, #PinkDotSG. I’m sorry I can’t be there today as I am abroad. But I will wear pink. And I will always support your freedom to love.
