  • Transcom NSF Officer Pointed And Pulled Trigger Of Revolver On Teammate, Then Lied And Tried To Cover Up

Transcom NSF Officer Pointed And Pulled Trigger Of Revolver On Teammate, Then Lied And Tried To Cover Up

A police full-time national serviceman who pointed an empty revolver at another NSF, pulled the trigger and later lied about it was sentenced to two months’ jail on Wednesday (Aug 2).

Justin Degoulange-Chua, 21, was the group leader of a patrol team attached to the Public Transport Security Command (Transcom).

On March 5 last year (2016), in the police room at Bugis MRT station, Degoulange-Chua pointed the pistol at patrol officer Muhammad Syukri Rahiman, 21. He was charged with using threatening behaviour with intent to cause alarm to Mr Syukri.

Degoulange-Chua also admitted to giving false information to a public servant on May 5 the same year, when he said he did not point the firearm at anyone but had taken it out to check it.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ho Lian-Yi said Degoulange-Chua was leading the team – made up of the victim and three others – on the first day of foot patrols. It was the first day of duty for the victim and another NSF police officer on the team, and they had just completed the basic Transcom course.

While taking a break, Degoulange-Chua talked about the team’s culture, which required rookies to perform push-ups and jumping jacks, among other things.

He then ordered the victim to get into a push-up position.

When the victim was on all fours, DPP Ho said the accused took out the victim’s extendable T-baton from the holster.

He extended the T-baton, placed it on the victim’s back, and told him to continue doing push-ups.

The victim managed to do one before the T-baton fell on the floor. The accused then told the victim to get up.

The entire incident was recorded by a assistant group leader on his mobile phone, who later shared it via the online social media app Snapchat.

When the victim was sitting at a table, the accused unbuckled his right holster, drew his Taurus revolver and took out all the five live rounds. He then placed four live rounds on the table and held one in his left hand.

After closing the chamber of the revolver, he asked the victim how many bullets were on the table. The victim replied that there were four.

The accused then said there was one round in the revolver. He pointed the weapon at the victim and squeezed the trigger at least once.

DPP Ho said: “The victim jumped out of his seat in alarm and shouted for the accused to stop. The victim was afraid that he would be hurt or even killed if the revolver was, in fact, loaded.”

Investigations showed that on May 5, the accused, in a statement to a Transcom Base officer, lied that he did not point his revolver at anyone.

Degoulange-Chua came clean about what he did only about three months later.

None of the four men brought up the incident in their initial statements to the police. The accused had approached three of them, including the victim, to cover up the incident.

Defence lawyer S. Balamurugan said his client, who is now a student, has apologised to the victim. He said his client’s offences were “completely out of character”, and the incident has caused his client great anxiety.

The maximum penalty for giving false information to a public servant is six months’ jail and a $1,000 fine. For using threatening behaviour with intent to cause alarm, it is a $5,000 fine and six months’ jail.

  • AXS Scam: Man Hogs AXS Machine And Left His Unfinished Transactions Hoping The Next Person Accidently Pays His Bills

AXS Scam: Man Hogs AXS Machine And Left His Unfinished Transactions Hoping The Next Person Accidently Pays His Bills

    [Gentle Reminder and a rant]
So i was at an AXS machine this morning, about to pay my bills. I was right behind someone, all well dressed but kept having his transactions cancelled due to his card for whatever reason (no hate) He apologised and was very friendly and courteous and asked if he could try again, and i said “Sure!”

I was glued to my phone and heard him on the phone (in his language; which i understand but because this is not a racial rant, ill keep it to myself. And to anyone confused, many people assume I’m not local or asian. Even though, Born and raised! Holla!) He was arguing with someone over money and i guess maybe he didn’t have the funds he thought he might have had. And he said on the phone in the context of “it’s okay, there’s a lady behind me, it wont time out” that’s as much as i caught on. And he left.

He walked off and was standing in the distance and i proceeded with my own bills (i pressed home and i thought it was refreshed for a new user) but when i got to the “Make Payment” page, his transactions of about $300 was there. I only had 1 bill so, it was pretty obvious. I turned to look at him and he looked away. I cancelled his transaction and only paid mine.

When i was done, i turned to him and did that finger pointing orh-hor motion and he mouthed sorry sorry and bowed a little.

Piggy me went to get McDonald’s breakfast (hotcakes with sausage and extra sausage, if you needed to know) and when i walked past the AXS machine again, i saw him back on it with an old lady behind. He did the same thing! When he walked off and stood at the same spot, i was being kaypo luh okay? I went up to the old lady and said sorry, i wanna check something. Weasel did the same thing!! I helped her cancel his transactions and told her next time must check. I turned around and he was gone. But i went by the counter to let them know what was up but didn’t see anyone attend to the machine for the next 5 mins.

So please be careful, maybe he was hoping someone could mistakenly pay his bills. Bitch, i ain’t made of money! Especially, young or old, if you are in a rush or aren’t too familiar with using the machines. I don’t use it often so i had no idea! My instincts was to physically help so i apologise that my Stomp adrenaline didn’t kick in and i didn’t get a picture.

So this is my gentle reminder to remind your loved ones! 😘

    [UPDATE]
Thanks for sharing guys! I’ve been notified that this has happened all across the city so be attentive at the payment page! Unfortunately, where i was at had no CCTV. But maybe it was planned out that way by this particular person? I’m not sure. Also like many of you, I’m a little old school. No ibanking and i like my receipts so i don’t use the apps or whatever else. So if you are like me, HEY! But also, always helps to be attentive. Can never be too careful!

  • Macpherson RC Photo Prove That Singaporeans Are Second Class Compared To The New Citizens

Macpherson RC Photo Prove That Singaporeans Are Second Class Compared To The New Citizens

Singaporeans are sick and tired of being made second class citizens in their own home.

We thought we had made it clear in 2011 that we want the rampant immigration and the social problems it causes to be rolled back, but it seems that after the 2015 elections, the PAP are back to their old ways.

When I first moved into my estate 20 years ago, I remember being greeted very often by my local Singaporean RC chairman and his members. They were always so helpful and anyone who talked with them felt at ease. National Days back then felt genuinely patriotic. We would gather and sing songs over food with neighbours from all the races, Malay, Indian, Eurasian you name it!

But as the years go by, I saw my RC members less and less. Some retired, some moved out. New committee members replaced them. In recent years, I even see an increase in RC members of questionable nationalities joining.

These days when I walk into my RC, I can no longer hear the graceful melodies of Teresa Teng being sung by our local aunties! The Karaoke Rooms are quiet, and the meeting rooms are quiet. RCs these days are more like places for people to ingratiate themselves with the PAP MP and their volunteers. Even these volunteers, many of them are unashamedly new citizens!

Where has Singapore’s Gotong Royong spirit gone?

I saw this picture and felt inspired to lament the passing on of Singapore’s golden generation. We are really living in desperate times.

  • Malaysia Sparks Anger After Banning Book Published In Singapore About Moderate Islam

Malaysia Sparks Anger After Banning Book Published In Singapore About Moderate Islam

Activists and authors in Muslim-majority Malaysia reacted with outrage Tuesday (Aug 2) after authorities banned a book aimed at promoting moderate Islam, as concerns mount about growing conservatism.

The book, Breaking The Silence: Voices Of Moderation — Islam In A Constitutional Democracy, is a collection of essays whose publication was organised by a group of prominent Muslim Malaysians pushing a more tolerant form of Islam.

The ban, signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said that printing or possessing the book was “likely to be prejudicial to public order” and “likely to alarm public opinion”.

Anyone breaching the ban on the book — which was published in neighbouring Singapore — can be jailed for up to three years.

Malaysia routinely bans books, movies and songs that may contain sensitive material regarding religion or sex, but critics say the government has been clamping down harder in recent times.

The book was the brainchild of a group of high-ranking former civil servants and diplomats known as the “G25” — for the number of its founding members — which was formed to push back against intolerance, and some of the essays were written by its members.

Mr Chandra Muzaffar, one of the authors featured in the collection, said the ban showed the government’s “authoritarian approach to Islam”.

“It’s a collection of essays which is intended to show that extremists and bigoted thinking on matters pertaining to the practice of Islam in the country should be combated in an intellectual manner,” he told AFP.

Ms Marina Mahathir, a rights activist and daughter of former long-serving premier Mahathir Mohamad, said the ban — signed last week — was aimed at silencing government critics.

“It is about silencing anybody who has a different view,” she said.

Critics say the government clampdown on anything deemed un-Islamic has accelerated in recent times as Prime Minister Najib Razak’s party seeks to appeal to its Muslim Malay base amid speculation elections could be called in the coming months.

In July the hit song Despacito was banned on state TV and radio due to its racy lyrics after pressure from an Islamic political party.

More than 60 per cent of Malaysia’s population of over 30 million are Muslim, but the country is also home to significant religious minorities.
