[Malaysia] Shell To Remove Cardboard Model Standees After Perverts ‘Molest’ Them In Viral Photos

Oil giant Shell today said today it will be removing all standees modelled by one of its Malay Muslim woman employees following viral images of the men in suggestive poses with her cardboard cut-out.

Shell also advised the public against further sharing such images which it termed as “distasteful”.

“We are aware that pictures of several individuals photographed engaging in distasteful and suggestive acts with a promotional standee at our retail stations are circulating online.

“We do not condone this disrespectful act, which is completely against the culture of Malaysians and Shell’s core values. We urge netizens and members of the public to refrain from sharing these images further.

“The standee will be removed from all our sites with immediate effect,” it said in a statement.

Several photos that have been making the rounds on social media showed men holding hands with the cut-out, kissing its cheek, and even grabbing at the breast.

The model pictured in the Shell promotional standee, Nor Shafila Khairusalleh, 25, was reported saying yesterday that she was perturbed by men “molesting” her likeness.

The petrol station supervisor told mStar Online that she could accept men who posed kissing or hugging her likeness, but not if they went overboard as it would be akin to sexual harassment.

“They may just be joking, but I feel ashamed because that is still myself although it is just an image,” she was quoted saying.

Nor Shafila was also reported that her husband was distressed seeing men “molest” his wife’s image, but that he remains an understanding partner.

  • LTA: No Collision On The Sengkang LRT Line

LTA: No Collision On The Sengkang LRT Line

You might have come across a The Straits Times article today about 2 LRT trains colliding on the Sengkang line last evening (3 Jul 2017).

LTA and SBS Transit Ltd would like to clarify that the article is erroneous and misleading, as there was no collision on the Sengkang LRT system.

The incident last evening involved a coupled two-car train which had stalled in between the Sengkang Town Centre and Renjong Stations. The two Light Rail Vehicles were travelling as one train on the system.

The sudden stalling may have caused some passengers who were not holding onto the standing poles/grab bars to lose their balance, and may have given the wrong impression that the trailing train-car had hit the one in front. SBS Transit staff subsequently reset the fault and manually drove the coupled train to Renjong Station to detrain passengers safely.

Lee Wei Ling: Hsien Yang And I Did Not Plan To Profit From The Deal

When Hsien Loong offered to sell Oxley to me for SD$1.00, I immediately asked Hsien Yang to be part of the deal with me. I have neither the time, nor the inclination to deal with the house on my own. Hsien Yang did not ask to join me in purchasing the house for $1. Also, Hsien Yang had long planned to demolished the house when I no longer need it & convert it into a public garden. Neither of us were planning to profit from the deal.

As for the donation to charity, Papa was very clear in his mind, he & Mama had paid for the property at the full financial value when they bought it, there was there for no need to donate to charity any money related to transactions on Oxley.

  • Lee Hsien Loong Must Step Down, Clear His Name In Court As Private Citizen

Lee Hsien Loong Must Step Down, Clear His Name In Court As Private Citizen

If he truly is a leader and if he really cares about Singapore, then Lee Hsien Loong must make the ultimate sacrifice and step down as PM.

Singapore has been dragged through the mud by the dispute. Enough is enough.

If there was no wrongdoing on the part of the government and there was no abuse of power, then Lee Hsien Loong must do the honourable thing and resign. He can take his siblings to court as a private citizen and defend his own integrity. Keep it a family matter.

What’s there to be afraid of? He won’t be PM for much longer.

Who will step up? Everyone’s favourite Tharman already ruled himself out. Heng Swee Keat dropped out of the running after his stroke. Ong Ye Kung is still in his first term as MP and Minister.

Who else is ready? And can Singaporeans accept Chan Chun Sing or Lawrence Wong as PM? It cannot get any worse than what it is now. Singapore needs to move on. The ball is in Lee Hsien Loong’s court.

Zainal Sapari Reached Out To Lee Siblings Through Pantun, Tells Them Blood Thicker Than Water, Family More Important Than Money

As the debate continued into its second day in Parliament, PAP MP Zainal Sapari, a former teacher, used a very Malay way to impart some valuable advice to the Lee siblings.

In the pantun, Zainal Sapari reminded them that your worldly possessions cannot be taken with you when you pass away. It was not worth risking family ties because of the riches.

    Wang hilang boleh diganti
    Harta ada tak dibawa mati
    Jangan kesal kemudian hari
Bila ikatan keluarga tidak ada lagi

    Ibubapa hidup berdamai
    Banyak berkorban setiap hari
    Adik beradik jangan bercerai
    Biar kasih sayang bersimpul mati

Very the Malay but very the spot on. Blood is thicker than water, your family is more important than your money.
