NO MUIS HALAL CERT: Power Cafe Employs Muslim Workers, Just Paste “Halal Sticker”

Power Cafe @ Yew Tee Point
Power Cafe @ Yew Tee Point

Yg sedih nya, salah satu wanita yg jadi tukang masak sibuk berbual santai sambil mengajar recipe yg dia sdg masak pada lelaki yg dia panggil Boss. Tiap kali sesuatu rempah dimasokkan ke kuali, ‘Boss’ lelaki nya akan tulis di note book dia.

We have sent emails to MUIS regarding cafes/restaurants that do not adhere to MUIS Halal guidelines. But so far, there is nil response from them.

Meanwhile, if you feel uncomfortable and uneasy about the cafes/stalls/restaurants, just choose another eatery. We urge all readers to also contact MUIS immediately.

  • Pork Meat Packages Placed in Halal Section at NTUC FairPrice

A Muslim customer was surprised and shocked when he was doing his grocery shopping  NTUC Toa Payoh HDB Hub recently.

Dayak Racun went to the halal meat section to buy beef, but was appalled to find pork meat packages placed in the halal section.

This is what Dayak Racun said on Facebook:

This is what I found… pork mixed with beef @ NTUC Toa Payoh HDB Hub….

When I make a complaint, the lady in charged only apologised to say sorry.

In my opinion, Muis should be responsible for this. I take this very seriously.

    NTUCporkHalal

This is not the first time sightings of pork meat packages were seen in the Halal section of local supermarkets.

Last month, a reader had informed us that a worker at Sheng Siong Supermarket had use the same chopping board to cut fishes and pork.

The incident was sighted at Sheng Siong Bedok Reservior.

    EDITOR’S NOTE

We have sent feedback to both NTUC FairPrice and MUIS.

As usual, MUIS has kept mum and eerily silent. We have not heard from them at all, including previous incidents where we have alerted them and asked for their comments.

We wonder what they (MUIS) are busy about, or maybe they think public complaints are not important at all?

  • The Landmark Restaurant Offer ‘Ramadan Buffet’ on Groupon But No MUIS Halal Certificate?

    The Landmark Ramadan Halal

This place is NOT halal. When i called to do a reservation, i enquired if it is halal.

They told me they have not managed to get the cert yet but it is ‘on the way’.

She further clarified that they applied for it so now they’re waiting.

Dissatisfied, I checked with MUIS halal registry department, and guess what, no such application.

    EDITOR’S NOTE

Thank you sis Quaintly Urs‎ for highlighting this.

True enough we have checked the MUIS website, and went through the list of Halal certified caterers and eating establishments, but we can’t find the name ‘The Landmark in Village Hotel Bugis’.

    Really misleading don’t you think?

We have contacted MUIS, and The Landmark in Village Hotel Bugis for their clarification on this matter. Hopefully, they will reply and we will post an update accordingly.

  • LATEST: Chinese Man Call Malays “Stupid and Poor”, “Extremist”

Thanks to a vigilant Singaporean, Rilek1Corner was alerted again on another racist and offensive comment by a male Chinese who goes by the name of ‘Issac Teck Shuean‘.

Issac who stated on his Facebook profile to be residing in Singapore and born in Johor, had called Malays “stupid and poor” and “extremist“.

Last month, another male Singaporean Chinese man, Peter Hu lodged a police complaint to say that he did not post an offensive comment on Muslims. In his attempt to cover up his insensitive remark, Peter Hu claimed that his account was “hacked”. In another posting he claimed that the image was “doctored”. Later on, he said that he was unaware of the offensive posting existence until his friends had informed him about it.

So which is the truth? One story, different information coming from the same guy.

Rilek1Corner was informed that Peter Hu who is openly gay, an avid PinkDot SG supporter and an LGBT activist, had previously argued with several anti-PinkDot activists in a Facebook group called ‘We are against PinkDot’.

The police are currently investigating this case.

Another female Singapore Chinese woman named ‘Kim’ who has an Instagram account ‘@kimmeeoow’ also said offensive remarks on Muslims and Malays.

She claimed her Instagram account was hacked. But preliminary investigations from netizens and tip-off from her friends have revealed that none of her social media accounts was hacked because she was posting as usual after she made those offensive comments. The police are also currently investigating this case.

Also in the hall of shame, we have Amy Cheong who was an employee of NTUC was terminated due to her tactless insensitive remarks on Malays.

Her insensitive comments have deeply hurt the Malay community and left a lasting impact thus far.

    EDITOR”S NOTE

Thank you Abdul Malik Mohammed Ghazali for the contribution.

While we understand offensive comments made by non Malays/Muslims such as Peter Hu, Amy Cheong, Kimmeeoow, and now Issac Teck Shuean are not true reflection of majority, we the minority, cannot help but notice the increasing number of individuals who are unhappy towards both the Malay and Muslim communities.

Our advice: Keep those thoughts to yourself. Don’t share it on social media because chances are, you will be featured here. And the rest will be history.

Racism is not confined to one race – all communities need to join hands to end it. It is an issue ignored, downplayed and denied.

Let’s move forward. Let’s end racial prejudice and religious discrimination.
