Best Chicken Rice In Singapore Not Worth The Poor Service

Was recommended to come to As-Shifaa Cafe by a friend, Ahmad Hidayah who told me that it is one of the best Malay chicken rice in Singapore.

Arrived there at 11.45am, as was told that it is better to arrive there before noon due to the lunch hour crowd. When my friend and I arrived, there was already a queue and it took about 15 mins in waiting before we finally got our food.

The guy serving the food had the most unpleasant scowl and was shouting to customers. An older Indonesian lady who was ahead of me ordered 8 packs of food, and she asked very nicely if one of the chicken could be changed as it was slightly burnt. The guy shouted at her ,” Ok, Orang tau la!” -“Yes, I know”, in English and rolling his eyes, annoyed at this lady’s request. His attitude was constant throughout the whole time. Shouting at customers, and was extremely grouchy.

At around 12.20pm, while still in the midst of eating, the makcik and owner of the shop, came to us, and asked us if we were done. We said no, and 10 mins later, she came around to our table again, and told us, “Sekarang dah peak hour, kalau boleh cepat2 makan, jangan bbual banyak2 sangat. Banyak orang tengah tunggu.” She said that since it is peak hour, hurry up with the eating, lessen the talking as there are people waiting to sit. Mind you, this was only half an hour after we got our food and my friend was on a wheelchair, so she wasn’t taking a seat and was sitting on the corner of the table and there were 3 free seats next to us.

We left without finishing our food as we didn’t feel at ease knowing that our presence there was no longer wanted with makcik and her workers watching us every minute.

The fried chicken is indeed tasty but I don’t know if it is worth the disrespect, rudeness and hostility that a paying customer has to deal with.

Rudy Marican: Apa Dah Jadi Dengan Masyarakat Islam Kita, Mak Sendiri Pun Tak Ambil Kisah?

Malam ne hati saya rasa amat sedeh hingga saya jadi sanggat emotional dan tak tahu macam mana nak tolong satu lagi mak chik yang di tinggalkan oleh anak anak nya!

Lima anak dewasa dan satu pun tak takut Allah bila dengan hati yang keras mereka tak nak ambil tahu pasal mak langsung walaupun mak dah tua dan sakit! Macam mana saya tak menagis dalam kesedehan bila dengar macik ne mengadu pada saya. Anak anak bergadoh dengan satu sama lain tak nak jaga mak!!!

Apa dah jadi pada masyarakat Islam saya? Kenapa mereka buat begini pada mak sendiri ?

Ada kah mereka tak sedar yang mereka juga akan tua dan anak anak akan buat yang sama pada mereka?

Ada kah mereka tak faham agama kita…ia itu cara yang paling senang nak masok shurga ia lah jaga orang tua kita dengan penuh kaseh sayang ..walaupun kita tak ada cukup duit…dan hidup kita penuh dengan cabaran???

Tapi kalau dengan hati penuh ikhlas dan kaseh sayang kita tetap jaga orang tua kita…Allah akan memberi kita ganjaran yang amat besar..kenapa kita maseh nak dengar bisikan Shaitan???? Saya sedeh sanggat kerana saya sendiri dah tanamkan mak kesayangan saya!!

Saya bermohon kapada anda tolong lah buat perubahan sebelum terlambat kalau anda rasa anda dalam golongan ne…saya tak ada niat nak kecikkan hati sesiapa ya…cuma saya amat sedeh bila macik menangis kat saya..

Memang mak kita tak sempurna sepenuhnya…tapi kita pun tak sempurna kan? Jadi ingat satu aje…kita boleh pileh kawan…tapi kita tak boleh pileh mak…itu juga ujian kita dari Allah semasa dalam dunia sementara ne!

Tiap tiap hari kita berdoa supaya Allah maafkan dosa dosa kita , tapi tanpa kita sedari dosa besar kita terhadap mak kita…bila kita tak bantu sikit pun kepada mak yang mengandongkan kita 9 bulan dan kemudian mengalami kesakitan yang amat dahshat untok melahirkan kita!

Saya berdoa anda cuba lah …memang jaga mak kadang kadang ujian nya berat tapi Allah dah janji Janna kan…? Mesti lah cabaran nya berat sikit…sabar lah…banyak doa supaya kita lulus ujian ne dengan cemerlang…

Saya berdoa malam ne …kalau saya dapat menpengarohi satu anak untok menjaga mak atau ayah dengan penuh ikhlas dan kaseh sayang…saya akan amat bershukur pada Allah!

SAF Tells Singaporeans To Think Twice About Using HALPS’ Concierge Services

The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on Friday (May 19) advised caution about a proposed new cleaning, storage and packing service for reservists, although a spokesperson for the business idea said it seeks to enhance rather than hinder operational readiness.

Called Helping Arms in ICT’s Laundry, Packaging & Storage (HALPS), the service – conceived by a group of Operationally-Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) themselves during an in-camp training (ICT) – will work by picking up the NSman’s uniforms and equipment like field packs outside his camp on the last day of training.

All of this will then be cleaned and stored at a warehouse before being prepared and sent for collection outside the camp gates come the next ICT.

“It is vital for all SAF servicemen to ensure that they are operationally ready,” said the SAF’s Chief Supply Officer Colonel Terry Tan. “All SAF servicemen are responsible for the safekeeping and maintenance of their Personal Equipment (PE), and to ensure that they are able to report at the stated time to the stated location with their PE for in-camp training or when mobilised.”

“Operationally Ready National Servicemen should consider carefully whether any third-party service provider is consistently able to deliver the agreed services on time, so that their operational readiness is maintained.”

But earlier this week the HALPS spokesperson said: “Such ‘concierge’ services that we are aiming to provide only seeks to enhance and streamline administrative processes for our soldiers.”

“Let’s assume a mobilisation exercise has been triggered in the middle of the day and a soldier is out from home,” he explained. “Rather than having him travel back to his home to change into his uniform and retrieve his ‘barang barang’ (Malay for personal belongings), would it be more effective if he proceeds to the camp directly, where our team will be waiting to enable his ‘transformation’ from civilian to soldier within a matter of minutes?”

NOT MAKING ‘LESS OF SOLDIERS’

Pricing for the service has yet to be confirmed “but should fall around the range of S$360 per annum”, said the spokesperson, adding that HALPS also “should be able to give to our clients a sizable rebate on any group signups within the same unit or camp”.

So far, around 80 NSmen have signed up based on interest expressed over email and Facebook. Once it has a “good gauge of the demand after firming up pricings”, HALPS will be registered as a business.

Online reactions to the service have been mixed. Said Max Li on the Facebook page of TODAY, which was first to report on HALPS: “Sign me up for this! No more stupid time wasting packing stuff you’re not going to even need in the long run. People who don’t see the benefits to this are really just unable to see how many useless things we do in the army.”

But one Wee Teck Ong commented: “Packing and maintaining the field pack is every NSman’s personal responsibility. No one is going to help you pack your field pack when a war comes.”

“This is wrong in every sense of the word,” said Samad Saif on Facebook. “We want our NSmen to be responsible, self-reliant, independent and capable of being organised. This is not helping but spoiling our NS men.”

In reply, HALPS said: “Our SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) has evolved over the years. The bunch of us still remember how we had to pick up spent bullet cartridges one by one at the firing range, in the sun or rain… Nowadays, soldiers shoot in air-conditioned ranges with automated retrieval of the cartridges. Does this change make our men less of soldiers?

“Our core services are targeted at NSmen who are, well, civilians. By taking on the administrative processes such as NS kit maintenance on their behalf, our NSmen can focus on other roles that they have to play.”

Mother Got Cheated Of $9000 Worth Of Milk Online By Scammer

A Singaporean woman got cheated of almost $9000 after spending it on 150 tins of milk powder. She lodged a police report after failing to contact the sellers who disappeared with her money.

She chanced upon a couple who were selling milk powder online for at least 20% cheaper. She trusted them as she had smooth transactions with them before, and later started a spree with 14 other mothers.

This time, however, the sellers gave excuses like having car break down and other management issues. They gradually became uncontactable after receiving the money.

As a result, the woman was misunderstood for cheating other mothers of their money. She even had to borrow from her mother-in-law to return them the money and make them appeased.

Walao eh, milk powder also want to cheat.

A Letter To “Milk Is Milk” Minister Josephine Teo

Dear Mrs. Teo,
You have truly inspired us with your profound wisdom when you said that “Milk is milk, just buy the cheapest brand.” In fact, you inspired us so much that we came up with our own cost saving ideas…

1: Salary is salary, and since a monthly salary of $1,000/- a month is enough to buy a HDB flat, why pay ministers millions for? Just pay them $1,000/- a month would be enough, especially since without exception, they’re all such idiots all they do is mess things up rather than solve problems.

2: Housing is housing, and since a one room HDB flat will shelter you from the elements as well as landed property, just demolish all the landed properties in Tanglin, Upper Bukit Timah and others and built 200 storey HDB flats. Better yet, a one-room HDB flat is a very small space, so like you said before, won’t such small spaces be more conducive to physical intimacy and sex? Oh, and of course, compensate all those living in these areas by giving them flats at the very top floor, and of course, to ensure that the lifts never break down, just do away with the lifts entirely. Hey walking up and down 200 storeys every day is good exercise, right?

3: Education is education, so why should we squander taxpayers’ monies giving scholarships to ministers’ children when the ministers can afford to pay for their education? And moreover, didn’t Education Minister Ong Ye Kung say that Singapore needs skilled workers? So why not send the ministers’ children to study in ITEs and polytechnics instead of wasting public funds sending them to university on scholarship? This is especially so since without exception, none of them seem to shine in their high-paying jobs. We know, because there’ll be no end of bragging on SPH news if one of them does something exceptional.

4: Food is food, so why should ministers like Lim Swee Say keep eating in restaurants like Din Tai Fung? There’s absolutely no reason why they can’t eat at hawker centers now, is there?

5: Jobs are jobs, and whether you’re a cabbie, a cleaner, or a highly-paid senior civil servant you’re still earning an honest living, so why should ministers’ children get highly-paid government jobs or any such? Why not make them become hawkers, cleaners, security guards, cabbies and so forth? Since the government is encouraging us all to work in such dead-end jobs, we expect the ministers to lead by example and make their own children do such jobs.
