Woman Charged With Hurting Religious Feelings Of Her Neighbours In Tampines

A woman was charged Wednesday (25 January) in the State Courts with hurting the religious feelings and harassment of her neighbours at an HDB block in Tampines last year.

Lee Dji Lin, 63, faces one charge of wounding the religious or racial feelings of Marliah Jonet for throwing a piece of raw pork from a lift to outside the victim’s flat at Blk 247 Tampines Street 21 on 18 June 2016. If convicted, Lee faces a jail term of up to three years, or a fine, or both.

The accused also faces two other charges of harassment. One charge alleged that Lee waved a pig-shaped figurine and shouted insults in Malay at one of Marliah’s daughters including “pig, pig, pig, piglet, one by one (your) children die” on 24 April 2016. The other charge alleged that Lee used a bamboo pole attached with a female underwear and swung it towards Marliah’s flat on 14 June 2016.

Lee faces a fine of up to $5,000 for one harassment charge, and a jail term of up to six months, or a fine of up to $5,000, or both for the other harassment charge.

In July last year, Yahoo Singapore interviewed Marliah about the incidents. According to Marliah, Lee had been harassing her family for six years.

Former model Hanis Hussey, Marliah’s sister-in-law, posted a video on YouTube last year allegedly showing Lee being caught in the act.

A woman was seen shouting in the direction of Marliah’s ninth-storey flat from a floor below in the video. She also used a water hose to spray water towards Marliah’s laundry poles. CCTV footage showed the woman throwing a plastic bag allegedly containing pork onto the corridor of Marliah’s flat.

Marliah had reported the matter to the police and other relevant authorities about the incidents. She said that she had also sent an email to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who then referred her matter to the Tampines town council.

Lee was ordered by the court to be remanded for two weeks to undergo psychiatric evaluation. When asked for her response to the court order, the petite and frail-looking Lee claimed that she was innocent.

The case will be mentioned again on 8 February.

Self-Proclaimed “Business Mentors” Have No Credibility, Harming Community’s Progress

Don’t u dare call urself an Entrepreneur or a Businessman if all u do is rely on ur fake workshops to be full.. What happens when u run out of people to “inspire”, what happens when u run out of minds to manipulate?

Trust me when I say that there are many that do not dare to speak up on this, for fear of being shut down, ridiculed or ganged up by these Fake Millionaire Mentors. Suit and tie konon, pose infront of other people’s cars, podah! Kocek kosong..

Siapa makan cili, dia rasa pedas. Not happy, delete and block me or straight up challenge me but make sure u are better then me or I will shut u down. If u have to knw, before u go up against me in business prowess, the sales target is 2 million a year, coz thats my sales target. If the target is too high for u, then turn around and walk away but If u think the target is not much for u or anyone in ur “Mentor Community”, get this, I achieve this target year in and year out, even when im sitting at home doing nothing. Even when Im sleeping. Even when Im on holiday. Even when Im ranting about u on Facebook. And I dont have to cheat and promise anyone the World to achieve this target. I make new prospects each minute of each day being who I am. U loose prospects everyday pretending to be who u are definitely not. So if u think, u can teach me about business, lu relak sua bruder….

U wanna go toe to toe with me, then make sure ur businesses are also toe to toe with mine. Otherwise, just take my rants as they are and do ur business elsewhere (like on a different continent perhaps) and please STOP cheating my fellow Muslim sisters and brothers out of their time, ambitions and money.

And dont think I do not knw where ur awards came from or how much u had to pay for em…lol

There are NO short cuts when it comes to making money or running a business and as soon as the Malay community realise and believe that, ur classes will be empty… then what u gonna do? Teach baking ah? At least that is a profession and business I can respect 10x more…

On the same note, I urge everyone who is about to be duped of their time and money, pls do a proper background check on these mentors. Find out,

1) Is my mentor the real deal, or a copy and paste on the blackboard kinda guy? They better be teaching something that u cant get free from Google.

2) Does my mentor have and own the luxuries that he claims to have? Or is it all just hocus pocus and mambo jumbo.

3) If my mentor is rich, how did he become rich? Did he make it from a business or did he make it from his so called seminars and classes, and if he did become rich from his full house classes, then u are better off if he teaches u how to run classes instead of teaching u on how to start up and be successful at a business he never owned or never did…

P.s : Im about to loose at least 10 FB friends…
But I am about to make a hundred more new and genuine ones…

Surbana Sackings An Example Of Weak Unions In One-Party Rule

I read with sadness about the Surbana’s sacking of 54 workers. As an HR practitioner for 10 years, I’ve gone through many firing exercises.

Businesses will always place its profitability above everything else. That’s nature.

But what is not acceptable is that when it terminate employees under the guise of poor performance.

From news reports, we know that the terminated workers weren’t given the due process for the termination.

I believe this happens because our labour laws are inadequate such that a company as big as Surbana has the temerity to act in such a manner.

From this episode, I hope Singaporeans start to realise that a strong union with bite is necessary.

We need to start looking at matters that govern our lives and not allow politicians to dictate what is best for us.

To a certain extent, a weak Union is the result of a one party rule which is bad for any nation as opposed to what Mr Ong Ye Kung recently espouses.

I’m gonna start off with the first Muslim woman that popped into my head. She’s a Speaker of Parliament, lawyer, unionist, daughter, mother, wife, mozlem, patron for the destigmatization of the mentally ill, hijabi (very confidently with her own unique style yo!), makcik bungkus2 (always spotted at a void deck happily helping fellow makcik and auntie grassroots with menial but necessary tasks like packing food), yishun-er (yes despite it’s increasingly ghetto status, she still lives in a humble hdb there), and most of all, i is so #fangirl over her cos she is a #sayitasitis-er!

“And then she said, set your own goals. If not, other people will set your goals for you, and you will become just a tool for other people to achieve their own goals. And don’t expect people to give you extra points just because you are a woman. Life is not golf; it doesn’t and shouldn’t work that way. #sayitasitis”

She said that in Islam, women get to keep their own property after marriage, while under the common law, women’s property goes into the common property of the marriage. And then she said, so ladies, you don’t have to contribute a single cent to the household if you don’t want to. You are not obliged. But don’t go home and tell your husband that Mdm Halimah said this; this is what Islam says. But if you redha and you want to give to help your family, then Alhamdulillah, i think this is good. #truth

And then she went on to talk about Prof Ying and Mdm Zuraidah before talking about her own accomplishments. Well sort of really because she talked more about the work rather than HER accomplishments. #humility

Protect Yourselves – Here Are The Dos and Don’ts Of Riding Escalators

A step in an escalator at White Sands Shopping Mall in Pasir Ris buckled on Saturday (Jan 21), just after a couple with a baby in a stroller stepped off.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Escalator incidents have been in the spotlight recently, with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) telling The Straits Times in a report on Jan 2 that it had received reports of 63 cases since Nov 1, 2016.

Of these, 95 per cent of them were attributed to “user behaviour”.

Escalator users commonly lose their balance while carrying heavy or bulky objects.

Here are some dos and don’ts while taking an escalator, according to a BCA advisory.

DO:

1. Hold on to the handrail.

2. Accompany young children on the escalator.

3. Push the emergency button to stop the escalator for emergencies.

4. Stand within the yellow lines marked out on the escalator steps.

5. Use the lift instead if you are pushing a trolley, pram or luggage, or have limited mobility.

DON’T:

1. Stop or loiter at the landing area, as this obstructs other passengers.

2. Be distracted by your mobile device, and do not drag or slide your feet off at the end of the escalator.

3. Play or run on the escalator, or lean over the handrail.

4. Stand near the sides of the escalator, as soft footwear may get stuck in the gaps.

5. Stand at the edge of escalator steps, as this can cause a loss of balance.
