  • Wedding Gatecrash Party Made To Eat Nutella And Condensed Milk Concoction Off Diapers

Wedding Gatecrash Party Made To Eat Nutella And Condensed Milk Concoction Off Diapers

Take up the challenge and prove your love for the bride, say the bridesmaids.

And often, the challenges are accepted by the sporting groom and his band of “brothers” – it does not matter how awkward or embarrassing the tests can get.

    wedding-gatecrash-party

Take the case of the groom and his groomsmen trying to retrieve a gummy worm from a bowl of live worms.

The video of the incident went viral and prompted criticism from netizens.

How far can such activities get?

Madam Ayra Quek, 29, recounts how her husband and his nine groomsmen had to eat from a diaper each at their wedding in February.

A concoction of Nutella chocolate and condensed milk, which was made to resemble faeces, was smeared on the 10 diapers.

Mr Amienuddin Abu Bakar, 29, and his entourage had to bury their faces into the diapers and polish them off.

They then lined the diapers which had letters attached to them to spell out “Amien (heart) Ayra”.

Madam Quek, a sales executive, says she only learnt of it during the wedding reception.

“When I first watched the wedding video during the dinner reception, I kept saying ‘Oh my God’,” she says.

    “But I was really touched.”

    ‘SPORTING’

Madam Quek adds: “My husband and the groomsmen were sporting.”

She reveals that there was a slight culture shock for the men at first.

Of the nine, one is Chinese, another Malay and the rest are Indian.

Madam Quek says: “Because my husband and most of the groomsmen are not Chinese, it was their first time experiencing a Chinese wedding gatecrash. So they did not know how it worked.”

Madam Quek, who is expecting a baby girl next month, adds: “My husband and his groomsmen actually finished all of the things that the bridesmaids made because they did not know that most of the time, people would just dump the food away or play cheat.

    “They did everything perfectly.

“All of them took it pretty seriously and they did not know that the games were just to disturb them.”

The men also had to shake off clothespins from their bodies and faces while dancing to music.

Madam Quek says: “They may have received a low score for the games but I know my husband loves me very much.”

  • Integration Of Scoot, Tigerair To Strengthen SIA’s Position: CEO

Integration Of Scoot, Tigerair To Strengthen SIA’s Position: CEO

The integration of Tigerair and Scoot will strengthen parent company Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) position in the low-cost segment and provide new opportunities in a challenging global environment, SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong said on Friday (Nov 4).

In the second half of next year, Tigerair will come under the Scoot brand name and both airlines will operate under a single licence, according to a statement from Budget Aviation Holdings on Friday, which owns and manages the low-cost airlines under the SIA Group.

Commenting on the decision, Mr Goh said the group realised that the creation of Budget Aviation Holdings in May was insufficient to capture the full benefits of an integration, and hence “the best way is to go with one brand”.

“There are a lot of synergies that we cannot fully exploit because they are still two different entities … (under) two different AOCs (air operator’s certificates) and therefore, different regulatory requirements,” he said. “One single brand will bring about the ultimate benefit of a full integration in all aspects of the budget side of the business.”

Mr Lee Lik Hsin, CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings, added that both Scoot and Tigerair have contributed to the group’s profitability, with both airlines’ earnings improving over the past six months. The integration will help to improve revenue further, he said.

“There’s a limit as to what (economies of scale) can bring. On the revenue synergy side, however, I think it’s fair to say we are a lot more optimistic about what we can get from a single brand.”

Some analysts are more cautious, however, given the ongoing stiff competition in the low-cost carrier market. UOB Kay Hian analyst K. Ajith, for one, told Channel NewsAsia: “There will be some degree of cost savings and perhaps some incremental revenue but it will not be material.”

Meanwhile, in response to queries from Channel NewsAsia on future manpower plans, Budget Aviation Holdings’ Mr Lee said the group will need more staff despite the integration.

“We have talked about growth over the next one year and beyond that. We recently had some communication about pilots and cabin crew growth that we need. In general, it will be that kind of situation and we need more people.”

The announcement of a timeline for the integration of Scoot and Tigerair comes one day after a disappointing earnings report card from SIA.

For the three months to September, the national carrier posted a near 70 per cent plunge in net profit to S$64.9 million, compared to S$213.6 million a year ago. Group revenue fell to S$3.65 billion from S$3.84 billion.

With the exception of Scoot and Tigerair, all other companies in the group – including parent airline SIA, as well as SilkAir, SIA Cargo and SIA Engineering – saw their earnings take a hit in the second quarter.

LONGER-TERM STRATEGIES TAKING SHAPE: SIA CEO

In a briefing with media and analysts on Friday, Mr Goh outlined the group’s continued push in four key areas – strengthening its premium positioning, having a varied portfolio of airlines, maintaining a multi-hub approach and seeking new business opportunities.

While he does not expect the gloom in the global economy to “last forever”, structural challenges such as an increasingly competitive landscape will likely remain, he said.

“We have taken proactive actions to put in place longer-term strategies to address these issues,” Mr Goh said. “You will see these strategies now taking shape and (they) augur well for the group in terms of positioning the group (with) a strong foundation for the future.”

As part of its positioning as a premium airline, SIA will continue to roll out its new SilverKris Lounges, with the latest opening slated to be in Bangkok during the first quarter of 2017.

Other initiatives include extending its premium economy class to 17 more aircraft by the end of next year, as well as the recent introduction of Teochew dishes to its in-flight menu.

The national carrier also plans to add 12 new destinations this financial year, Mr Goh revealed, noting that this is “not a small feat” given the challenging business environment.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do so had we not pushed to go on a portfolio model and take decisive steps to acquire new aircraft,” he said. “With the new aircraft types, we are able to grow in a manner that is commercially feasible. But it’s not just SIA, we have a portfolio of carriers (that) allows us the nimbleness and flexibility to grow.”

  • Tangled iPhone Cable In Steering Wheel Caused 4-Car Accident At Pasir Ris, Sent Metal Road Dividers Flying

Tangled iPhone Cable In Steering Wheel Caused 4-Car Accident At Pasir Ris, Sent Metal Road Dividers Flying

A driver lost control of his car and caused damage to three other cars, all because of an iPhone cable.

There were no reported injuries in the accident.

Police said they were alerted to the accident at Pasir Ris Drive 1 towards Pasir Ris Drive 12, involving three cars and one taxi, at 9.27am on Friday (Nov 4).

Mr Yeo, who was one of the drivers in the crash, told Shin Min Daily News that his iPhone charging cable was tangled in the steering wheel and causing it to jam. As a result, he lost control of the car, the Chinese evening daily reported.

His car shot to the right lane and collided into another vehicle, before sending both into the centre divider and dislodging some metal rods.

One of the rods from the road divider flew into the road opposite and jabbed the bonnet of a third car, driven by private hire car driver Mr Goh.

A taxi was also hit by a dislodged metal rod.

Mr Goh told The Straits Times that the taxi had pulled over to pick up a passenger, and he overtook it.

The rod then came flying over, and missed him by less than a metre. He jammed his brakes when he saw it.

“Everything was so sudden. If I was going faster, the rod would have hit me,” the 26-year-old told The Straits Times.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) sent two fire bikes and an ambulance to the scene.

There were no reported injuries, SCDF said.

    Police investigations are ongoing.

  • Desperate Mother: We Have Video Evidence Of Maid Physically Abusing Our Children But She Remains Free

Desperate Mother: We Have Video Evidence Of Maid Physically Abusing Our Children But She Remains Free

I think it’s time to share this as I feel that it’s good to let others know as a deterrent and to be more careful when choosing a helper.

Sri wahyuni ( wp number 007726961 ) has been with us for about 6 months when we discovered this. We saw this video of she scolding my 3rd child Ilyas and then punching the side of my last Son Ilham’s head casually. When we spoke to our children, we later found out that she had been violent to all our kids except Auni. She had punched the tummy of ilham, slapped ilyas’s hand but was especially rough with Ilhan whom she had pushed against the door and even slapped his face. Hence we showed her this video and she said that she is sorry and would change.

We waited for a while deciding what to do but shortly after she ran away and went to MOM instead and reported we had abused her. I Guess she thought if she alleged we abused her then we can’t possibly report she has abused our kids but of course we reported the abuse and showed the police this video and now investigation is taking place. The worst was she purposely ran away on the day we were gg to Australia and had bought visa and tickets for her to go with us .

Unfortunately though our government lean towards foreigners and once a fdw alleged abuse automatically the employer will be bared from getting a helper until the investigation ends even though there is zero evidence of this – yeah wow to our govt on this ) MOM and SPF even has the cheek To repeatedly call me to enquire about the things she had left behind at my place. Hence frankly I have lost faith with the ability of MOM or spf to protect Singaporeans when it’s against the foreigners.

Because of this my boys had to go through a thorough medical examination and then later a psychological examination and don’t know hat else but that’s okay as Long as This helper will be put away .

Anyway do beware of this helper as the spf had informed me that at times the helper can appeal to find a new employer even though they are under investigation and for those families who have fdw taking care of their children, do place CCTVs but seriously if they are of preschool age do send them To child care Centres instead where you have professionals taking care of your children.

Please do make Doa and remember us in your prayers and we are hoping this ordeal will end soon and we believe Allah swt is just and there is always a HikmAh behind whatever has happened. In Shaa Allah.
