  • Roy Ngerng To Pay Lee Hsien Loong Damages In Installments Over 17 Years

Roy Ngerng To Pay Lee Hsien Loong Damages In Installments Over 17 Years

Blogger Roy Ngerng will pay S$100 a month for five years, and S$1,000 a month subsequently in damages awarded to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for defamation until the full sum of S$150,000 is paid.

In a hearing on Monday morning (March 14) to assess the damages, the lawyers of Mr Ngerng and Mr Lee reached a settlement in relation to the terms of payment of the judgement sum, Mr Ngerng’s lawyer Eugene Thuraisingam told TODAY.

Mr Thuraisingam said both sides had agreed late last week on terms to settle the costs payable (S$30,000) for the assessment of damages hearing, which Mr Ngerng has to pay by Wednesday.

No interest would need to be paid if Mr Ngerng makes each payment on time, said Mr Thuraisingam, who is acting on a pro bono basis. “In the event that he breaches the terms of the agreement (i.e fails to make any one of the payments), the full amount outstanding plus Court Judgment interest will be immediately payable,” the lawyer added in an email reply.

It would take 17 years for Mr Ngerng to pay the damages in full.

In December last year, a High Court judge ordered Mr Ngerng to pay Mr Lee S$150,000 for alleging that the latter had criminally misappropriated Central Provident Fund monies. While past defamation cases involving Prime Ministers have attracted damages in excess of S$300,000, Justice Lee Seiu Kin said a “substantial reduction” in this case was warranted, given the blogger’s “comparatively low standing”.

Mr Ngerng had earlier been found guilty of defaming Mr Lee, and in a three-day hearing in July to assess damages, Mr Lee’s lawyer Davinder Singh made the case for “substantial damages” to be awarded. The case stands out for the “depth and intensity” of Mr Ngerng’s malice towards Mr Lee and his resolve to damage Mr Lee’s reputation, thus warranting a “very high award of damages”, Mr Singh had said.

In response to media queries, Mr Lee’s press secretary Chang Li Lin confirmed that Mr Ngerng “had asked to be let off by paying only S$36,000 out of the costs plus S$150,000 in damages”. “The PM had responded to say that (Mr Ngerng) had to discharge his entire debt, but that he was prepared to give (him) time to pay the S$150,000 by instalments, provided (he) paid the costs immediately,” Ms Chang said. Mr Ngerng agreed and this was recorded by the Court, she added.

  • Remembering Benjamin Lim And Dominique Sarron Lee At Hong Lim Park

Remembering Benjamin Lim And Dominique Sarron Lee At Hong Lim Park

A video we did for the two boys in yesterday’s memorial tribute.

Thanks to Dolly Peh and Gilbert Louis who helped out tremendously at the event in heavy downpour.

The three speakers Leong Sze Hian Zixu Augustin Lee and Timothy Toddall spoke beautifully for the boys.

Special mention must be made to Jagjit Singh who set up the sound and light system in the rain. Some of his equipment is now defective due to the rain which has seeped in.

Big thanks to the 100 brave souls who came and stayed on despite the rain. You guys rock!

Many of you are emotional and some choked on your words as you said your personal tribute at the event.

Let’s hope the family will find some comfort and closure with the memorial and that their death will not be in vain.

Injustice must be opposed at all cost or else we are saying we accept it.

RIP Benjamin and Dominique – you will be remembered.

  • Who Is Wendy Lim?

    Who Is Wendy Lim?

According to Lianhe Zaobao, Wendy Lim (林婉丽), 41, is a logistic executive who allegedly had an extra-marital affair with People’s Action Party (PAP)’s elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Bukit Batok Single Member Constituency (SMC), David Ong, 54.

Ong announced his resignation from the PAP and as elected MP yesterday, citing “personal indiscretion”. Singapore’s prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong had accepted his resignation and will be calling for a by-election to fill up the vacated SMC.

    Who is Wendy Lim?

Many netizens have been busy digging out photos and details about her to find out who is this woman who supposedly led to the destruction of a MP’s career.

From what I gathered on Sammyboy forum and Lim’s Linkedin page, she appears to be a career high flier in the logistics industry, holding the position of Deputy Honorary Treasurer at the Singapore Logistics Association and Group Sales Manager at Pacific Integrated Logistics Pte Ltd:

Wendy Lim also appears to be a big fan of the PAP and David Ong in particular. She is a member of the PAP Bukit Batok Branch Women’s Wing and there are many pictures of her at various PAP event. She appears to support David Ong fervently, including bringing cute caricature drawings and posters of Ong to root for him at events:

Interesting, many netizens have been lamenting on how ‘lucky’ David Ong was to score with a ‘lao chio’ like Wendy Lim, given his ordinary coffeeshop uncle look:

What do you think? Do you find the two of them compatible?

I am wondering among the 92 elected MPs in Singapore, how many of them might be having or had extra-marital affairs. These folks must be pissing their pants not to get discovered. The consequences are serious, judging from the recent string of ex-MPs like David Ong, Michael Palmer and Yaw Shin Leong who had to vacate their MP seats.

  • How Many Michael Palmers And David Ongs Are There In PAP?

How Many Michael Palmers And David Ongs Are There In PAP?

PAP MP David Ong has announced his resignation citing personal reasons, ie “personal indiscretions”.David, a Christian with three children, was having an affair with 41-year old Wendy Lim, an active member of the PAP Women’s Wing in Bukit Batok.

    Image: ASS

In an interview with CNA, David said he would “appreciate if you can give me and my family the privacy to heal and rebuild”. It appears David has forgotten he has been a public figure since becoming an MP in 2011. He has also received close to 1 million tax dollars in MP allowance.

David has also received tax dollars as managing director of Red Dot Publishing which counts the Singapore Tourism Board as its main client. Its total annual circulation for maps in four languages is 3,200,000 copies.

Extramarital affairs is a reality of life, like it or not. It happens in the private sector, military, civil service and of course grassroots organisations. Thousands of affairs are happening at any one time, some with the knowledge of spouses, others not. The fact is women gravitate towards men with power, money or both.

David has a sort of ‘nice guy’ image online and many Singaporeans would like to let the matter rest. However, this is impossible because PAP has painted itself whiter than white, now into a corner.

The internet has a perfect memory and netizens have not forgotten the Yaw Shin Leong scandal, where the mainstream media and PAP went for the jugular.

In 2012, PAP Chairman Hara Kiri Khaw, who claimed to be a Buddhist, said that “…once a person enters politics, there is no difference between his or her public and private life” and he also did not hesitate to take pot shots at WP. What goes around has finally come around.

Should David should expect others to be forgiving, and we would really like to, while PAP continues to hit below the belt at every opportunity?

David was in an influential position and was privy to lots of confidential information. Did Wendy benefit from the relationship, besides sexually? This warrants an investigation.

David Ong won’t be the last PAP member to be caught with his pants down. The PAP has attracted self-serving men who are mostly after only money and power. Women in turn are attracted towards such men, no matter how useless to society they may be.

How many Michael Palmers and David Ongs are there?
