Abu Bakar is the CEO of Nakilat-Keppel Offshore and Marine, a shipyard in Qatar. He never thought that he could rise to become a Chief Executive Officer given that he was a poly graduate.
He attributed his success to the spirit of continued learning, passion and diligence.
After graduating from SP, he had a head-start as an assistant safety officer with Keppel.
Abu Bakar gradually moved up the ranks, working in other areas such as production and marketing to deepen his skills.
Despite juggling with work, family and his National Service commitments, Abu Bakar sought to further his education, graduating with a Master of Business Administration, so that he could continue to learn and grow as an individual.
In recognition of his zeal for lifelong learning and contributions to society, Abu Bakar was recently named Achiever of the Year by Malay daily Berita Harian.
