Beware! Singaporean Names, Residential Addresses And Mobile Numbers Exposed On A Website Called ‘Locate Family’

My friend recently alerted me to this site as she discovered that my personal data have been exposed on this website called “Locatefamily.com“.

This includes my name, residential address (including the unit number) and mobile number. They are all accurate.

I was surprised to see my data listed on the website!

I did a random check for my other friends and some of them also appeared on this website. So many Singaporeans are listed on the website!

I am not sure how the company even got hold of such sensitive personal data and it scares me to think what strangers can do with these information.

Under the Personal Data Protection Act, organisations are not allowed to collect, use or disclose personal data without our consent.

But if it’s publicly available, it’s a different story – they can use your data.

Just be careful whenever you are asked to reveal your personal data to someone else or an organisation!

If you managed to find your details on Locatefamily, you can request for the company to suspend the listing of information and permanently remove it once they have verified your information.”

  • Kes Anak Dirantai Pada Tong Gas Sebab Tidak Mahu Ke Sekolah; Bapanya Merupakan Seorang Anggota Tentera

Kes Anak Dirantai Pada Tong Gas Sebab Tidak Mahu Ke Sekolah; Bapanya Merupakan Seorang Anggota Tentera

  • 3 Guests Received Outpatient Treatment After Port Dickson Hotel’s Partial Roof Collapse Due To A Blast

3 Guests Received Outpatient Treatment After Port Dickson Hotel’s Partial Roof Collapse Due To A Blast

Three people escaped serious injury when the roof and wall of their hotel room partially collapsed on them.

The victims — believed to be a couple, aged 51 and 52, and a 27-year-old man — were rushed to the Port Dickson Hospital by staff from the Avillion Hotel and received outpatient treatment.

State Fire and Rescue Department head Norazam Khamis said his team was still investigating the cause of the 4am incident.

“We have instructed the hotel management to temporarily close the affected building until our investigations are complete,” he said, adding that only one room on the 7th floor of the hotel on Jalan Pantai was affected.

Norazam said a preliminary probe revealed that the boiler system on the rooftop, which provided heated water to the rooms in the block, may have exploded and caused the partial collapse of the structure.

In a statement, a hotel spokesman said that it regretted the incident.

“Our guests’ safety is our utmost priority and the family of three who sustained minor injuries has received outpatient treatment at the Port Dickson Hospital.

“They are now back at the resort to rest and resort staff are at hand to provide them with full support,” he said.

The spokesman added that the Fire and Rescue Department had declared the first three floors of the affected block – comprising meeting and conference rooms – as safe, the management decided to shut down the entire block, which has about 30 rooms.

Affected guests have also been moved to a different block.

“We are working closely with authorities and our in-house structural engineers will be joining in the investigation,” he added.

  • Fake Diplomas And Degrees From Real Malaysian Universities Being Sold At RM1,000 To RM3,000

Fake Diplomas And Degrees From Real Malaysian Universities Being Sold At RM1,000 To RM3,000

A syndicate operating in Puchong, Selangor, has been selling fake academic scrolls to the public, according to an expose by the China Press (2 Oct).

A reporter from the newspaper went undercover as a potential buyer and contacted the syndicate that had been blatantly promoting its services on Facebook.

The syndicate is offering fake certificates from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and SEGi College.

According to China Press, a fake diploma scroll from UiTM is sold at RM1,000 and a forged degree scroll at RM2,000. It charges RM2,000 for a phony diploma, RM3,000 for a forged degree or a fake Master’s Degree from SEGi.

The syndicate claimed that the fake certificates are bilingually produced and they bore the seal of the institution as well as the signature from the chancellor.

Customers can choose from 30 programmes available at the universities and they will receive a scroll plus a transcript in two days. The fabrication process only takes two hours and the package will be delivered a day after via mail.

Customers are warned that the fake certificates are only good for employment in the private sector. “This is because government departments are strict, they will look into everything. You should know that your fake academic qualifications are not in the system, since the certificate you’re holding is fake,” the syndicate said.
