Listening to the news about the proposed amendments to the criteria of a candidate for the elected president has made my kepala pusing.
So complicated and confusing.
Among other things the financial criterion is to be raised to $500 million, effectively ruling out Dr Tan Cheng Bock. And I don’t know of any Malay who can fullfil the criterion besides ex or current PAP office holders. You see how dirty the PAP is. Why can’t they save us lots of time, money and effort by admitting that for self preservation they just want someone whom they can go to bed with?
All the wayang!
After what they saw in the last PE, especially how close and dangerous it would be for them if their chosen horse were to be defeated, a Malay candidate of their choice would surely lose his pants even if he is an ex minister.

Baru saya katakan dua hari lepas. Ini buktinya. Walaupun segelintir saja yg diambil masuk dalam angkatan bersenjata kita anak bangsa kita tetap dapat mencapai kecemerlangan.
Syabas!
Tapi kita harus sedar dan jangan lekas terpedaya dgn tipudaya PAP dan alat sebaran amnya.
Masih hanya SEGELINTIR!!

Many Singaporeans may not be aware of the main reason for the hype on the need to allow a candidate among the minorities (in this instance the Malays because the Indians have had 2 of their own already) to be elected as Singapore’s President.
I fully share the views expressed by Alfian Sa’at in a recent post.
I am basically colour blind when it concerns this. To blazes with symbolism/tokenism. What we Malays want are fair and equal treatment. We want to be treated not as second class citizens. We want to be represented in all aspects of the Singapore socio political and commercial landscape. We want to play a real and meaningful role in the defence of our nation. We want to be allowed to freely practise our culture and religion without intruding into those of the other communities or reducing the common space, like the donning of the tudung. We want an end to all forms of discrimination in all sectors, especially in the NS and immigration policies which are so blatantly to our disadvantage. We want to be truly united with the other communities as one people.
We want a president who can unify us all, irrespective his race. We say a big NO to a puppet president even if he is a Malay.
If asked to choose between an ex Malay PAP minister (because under the proposed new criteria only such persons would qualify, I suppose) and Dr Tan Cheng Bock, for instance, I would gladly choose Dr. Tan even though he is not a Malay.

Kedua dua calon Melayu SDP, Sidek Mallek dan Damanhuri Abas adalah antara yg terbaik yg pernah dikemukakan oleh pembangkang.
Masyarakat kita memang mempunyai ramai cerdik pandai tapi mereka rata-rata lebih suka bersendirian dgn keluarga ataupun berjuang dlm persatuan-persatuan bukan bersifat politik.
Yang masuk politik biasanya ambil jalan yg lebih mudah dan ‘selamat’, dapat ganjaran yg lumayan. Mereka sertai PAP tanpa benar-benar bertekad menyelesaikan masalah sebenar masyarakat yg telah lama tertunggak – 5 dekad terlalu lama untuk kita menunggu.
Mereka seolah acuh tak acuh. Lebih teruk lagi jika mereka bersifat seperti melukut di tepi gantang. Soal diskriminasi masih berleluasa walaupun mereka cuba menafikannya. Soal seperti pemakaian tudung, misalnya, dianggap seperti menangani serangan perganasan atau terrorisma. Mereka biarkan diri mereka ditekan dan diperbodohkan oleh tuan-tuan besar mereka. Sungguh tak masuk akal.
Lebih tak masuk akal lagi, masih ada saja Melayu cerdik pandai yg cenderung menyertai PAP. Sedih sekali kerana mereka tak dapat menggambarkan di benak mereka bahawa jika baik kedudukan masyarakat Melayu maka baiklah juga kedudukan masyarakat keseluruhannya. Negara kita akan lebih makmur dan sempurna.
Itulah pendekatan kita dlm SDP. Sila gembling masyarakat kita supaya memberikan sokongan padu kpd calon-calon kami. Kami berpadu tenaga sebagai satu pasukan. Kita usaha sambil berdoa. Doakanlah kejayaan kami. Syukran.
